2485 is my 4th compact tractor backhoe. Two Kubotas and one Woods all 7.5'. I will probably be replacing 2485 which I am totally unhappy. I wanted Kioti hoe for the Kioti tractor but realize this was a mistake. I know there are some strong opinions from knowledgable dealers and owners and I don't want to make a second mistake. I remember reading Rhino and Woods where recommended. Please give me some unbiased guidance.

Why is the 2485 not working for you?
It's matched to the tractor you have. I've got the same hoe and had it first on my DK-35 and now on my DK-40 and I've had no problems with it.
Do you have the return line from the hoe fitted into the return/fill reservoir? If not, there is a kit your dealer should have installed to allow more flow and faster response from the hoe.
FYI: AND if you use another brand, (non-Kioti) and it causes a problem, Kioti reserves the right to void your tractor warranty. It's in the fine print about any accessory not manufactured by Kioti.

Anyway, I can't comment on Woods hoes, nor Rhino, but I do have a Woods Bush-Hog and it works well and is made well too.
BTW, I noted your other post about your bucket issue on your hoe- is that maybe why you're not happy with the KB-2485 hoe right now?
How many teeth are on the bucket-4 ? or less?

I have a 08 dk 45 with a rhino 95 c with subframe, I have not at one moment regretted the rhino, I have a friend with the same tractor with a 2485 and the rhino is noticeably larger.

What is the significance of larger in the hoe? Does it make it perform better, or is there some other factor by which larger is better?

My opinion is larger sometimes means heavier built which can mean more durable. Since a backhoes purpose is digging with hydraulic force it stands to reason this could represent a significant distinction.but If you disagree with this distinction that's your right.

For the most part I agree with you. Thanks for the clarification. Sturdy build is good, overbuilt can be detrimental, IMHO if the hoe is too heavy, (weight) for the application, (tractor size). For instance, a one size fits all can be a one size fits some tractors well and others not so well, vs. a hoe made by the tractor mfg. to fit their own series's specific parameters. I'm not saying this is the case in these brands, but it is worth taking into consideration; and there is also the consideration of the hydraulic cylinders size and strength in all of the above brands, including Kioti's. Subframe ease of use on/ off the tractor is something I hear a lot of guys mentioning too.

The bucket is a 12" with three teeth. Bought and wanted Kioti for warranty issues. Lack of power compaired to other hoes. More twisting and bending than others. Seat hits back of cab. This is weakest hoe I have owned,,,regardless the bucket binds half way thru a curl and you can see the "dogbones" rise and fall during the curl. Looked at pins all are fine. Now the pins fit the bucket "ears" fine but thru the dipperstick is way off. I took some pix that I can email to better explain. You can take the dipperstick bolt and move up and down two or three inches. Also stabs need to be reset every two or three scoops. 2000 hrs on two Kubotas and 1000 hrs on a Cub Cadet (mits) with Woods and only issues where busting hydr parts. 25hrs on Kioti

As with your reply I agree with all you said , however , after studying specifications of several brand hoes I decided on the rhino, I have total confidence in the kioti being built to handle the extra force, that was a gamble I was willing to make and so far have exsperienced 0 problems.

Sounds like you may not have the return hose plugged into the fitting that goes into the right near top side of the rear diff area where one fills the HST. If this is the case you could be missing power that is otherwise available to you with this tractor and hoe.
Sounds like a small bucket to run on this hoe too. I have a 4 tooth, 18"(?) bucket and it digs big time. I'd like to see you be happy with your setup so send me some pics by PM and I'll see what I can do to get them posted for you. Do you have the Bigfoot pads on your stabilizer feet? If not- they came on mine and do a great job of holding the hoe in place.
I have a hydraulic thumb and a custom designed ripper tooth I call the 'claw' for ripping out tree roots and stump removal.
I'm sure we can get you to where you're happy with your hoe- just give us a chance to tweak your current situation. Not to say it won't need some dealer intervention with the bucket issues.
What are you primarily digging?
Hold on, don't give up yet- OK?

Here are just some I found quickly, possibly of interest to you.
First is actually a pic from the supplier of the thumb and "claw", MIE, ( Michigan Iron /Equipment)... A 2485- with 3 tooth like your bucket, yes?
Next two are on my hoe.

To add pics, if they are on the computer you're using, just go to the "+ reply to thread", (NOT QUICK REPLY) button on the left bottom of the section of the page where you want to post them, and a box will pop up with a toolbar in near left and with a paperclip. Click on the paperclip and go to what you want to attach.
