I have a Kubota L 2950 1993 with FEL and I would like to add a backhoe. I was wondering which Kubota model of backhoe would be the best match for my tractor? I m looking for a strong backhoe that will operate easily. Which backhoe model did it originally come with? Should I be looking for a 3 pt or a 4 pt mount? Are there any other companies that would make a suitable backhoe for my tractor. Thanks in advance

Manuel

There are tractors and there are backhoes. When you try to combine them you must compromise a great deal. You can buy a good running older CAT, Case, JD, Ford, etc for less then a high quality tractor add-on backhoe. If your plans include stumps, rocks, etc you just can't beat a 'real' backhoe:D

My plans include mainly small work including small ditch, holes, tree transplanting etc I did not think about buying an other tractor. I don't like the idea of extra maintenance. My dad use to have a B8200 with backhoe and I was always impressed by the amount of work a small 20 hp tractor can achieve. That kink of backhoe size would probably be sufficient for my needs so I figured a additional backhoe on my L 2950 would probably be good enough.

The general thought process around here seems to focus on more equipment. I bought my combo because I want to maintain trails (about 6' wide) and food plots in my rolling woods when I retire. I'm going to have to push dirt, grade, brush hog, dig fence posts, dig holes, lift logs, till, etc. I don't want to store and haul a mini ex, a tractor, and a bulldozer, and I want the flexibility to change my mind when I want to change my attachment.
If you can line up a bunch of jobs that require a backhoe and guarantee good weather and no interruptions you can rent a GOOD backhoe loader for about $1,000 a week or $2,000 a month. So far, for the jobs I've been doing, I would have spent a $1,000 digging hole, pulling up stumps, etc. One of the prime things I've used it for is picking up sticks. Like the one in the BH in the photo. Of course that stick was about 1 foot deep and attached to the tree in the second photo. And the tree didn't want to let go :)

Hola Manugoss,
I own a L3250 with a L400 FEL, i adapted a used chinese LW6 backhoe with subframe, the design and construction of this BH is very poor and i wouldn't recomend it.
I you have the posibility i would recomend you a subframe mounting as the BH put a lot of stress on the tractor.
