Hello Gents and (Ladies)
My Norton anti virus is due to expire next month. The renewal is 39.95

I've been looking at The Shield Professional 2006
one site has it rated a little better than Norton and the price is 29.95. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I thought I read a post on TBN a while back about another anti virus that was the choice of a couple of TBN'ers. But can't seem to locate it now.

Thanks for any and all comments, suggestions, cautions or what ever.

I use AVG. Here is a link to the free version. Give it a try, its much better than Norton or McAfee. And the price it right. I purchased the product, 39.95 for two years with support. Can't be beat.

I agree, AVG is hard to beat. Been using the free version for years and nary a problem. Just remember to keep it updated!

AVG, hands down!! Best part is it's free, more importantly it does a better job of finding viruses.

AVG here too. You really do get somethings for nothing. It's completely free.

I also use AVG. I have used it for a couple of years now w/ no problems. Be warned... Norton can be a difficult program to get uninstalled. And you do need to uninstall it completely before installing something else. I have worked on several PCs that had an issue uninstalling Norton (McAfee is just as bad) and had to be formatted. After you uninstall Norton, go to Norton's website and do a search for (your version) removal tool. Trust me, it will save time and frustration in the long run.

I usually buy whichever I can get the cheapest. Didn't really purchase/get too much software online because until a few months ago I was on dial-up. I bought Computer Associates E-Z Armor last year. After I purchased Tax Cut and the rebates it was about $10. After a couple of problems with the firewall I decided I was going back to Norton or McAfee. Originally picked up McAfee they wouldn't give me the upgrade rebate becuase of it not being McAfee or Norton. Took it back today and bought Norton they will give me the rebate for the CA product. It was $69.99 - $40 for buying TaxCut and - $20 for upgrade = $9.99. I also decided to renew the CA for $9.95 after rebate to use on the secondary computers that I have.

In my 15 years in the computer industry, I switch back and forth quite a bit. Like I said I usually get which ever is cheaper as both (the biggies everyone knows) are constantly leapfrogging each other.

AVG Free Edition. Not one problem and been using it for 3 or so years. It even updates the virus definitions and scans for viruses automatically. It also scans incoming and outgoing emails. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll give you another vote for AVG. In fact, my step-daughter, without asking me, deleted my Norton from my computer and installed AVG. I was pretty angry at first, since I had recently paid for Norton, but she told me that it would speed up my computer by a lot, and with dial-up my only option, my computer needed speeding up. Sure enough, she was right, my computer is now much faster, and I think the AVG is superior to Norton, and as was said before, the price is sure right!!!
