Where\'s the clock?

As I now have over 20 hours on my dream machine; one thing I've missed is a clock. I enjoy my seat time, and would prefer not to have to worry about time, but it's a fact of life. I don't think a clock would have been hard to add, with all the other electronics these CUT's have. I figure i can pick up a battery operated one and attach it; but with all the other little details that Kubota pays attention to, why couldn't they have added a basic little clock.
Granted, this is a very minor annoyance, but we all have to watch the clock sometimes (an i hate wearing my watch when i'm tractoring/ working outside).

moon: guess they figure all people wear a watch, and they want to keep cost down, i would rather they put a decent hour meter on the darn things

Re: Where\'s the clock?

I am with you on this one. I think a digital clock would be a plus. I never wear a wrist watch, and usually don't need one as there are clocks hanging everywhere. But I would not want to be without one in my Trailblazer, and do miss having one on my JD445 lawn tractor, as well as my JD 4300.
My solution has been to buy a cheap (less than $2) digital and mount it on the dash. Works well until it gets soaking wet, and it goes black (blank?) if it takes on direct sunlight. Maybe that is the effect of heat, as everything comes back (readable) when it cools down.

Re: Where\'s the clock?

yea, I've been looking for a clock for mine, too. Sure would just love to find a waterproof one I could mount, and I've just about given up. Tried Tractor Supply Co., various marine stores, etc...seems nobody sells one that can handle getting wet....

Re: Where\'s the clock?

I agree, an hour meter is more important than a clock. The hour meter, parking brake light, oil light, gas gauge, etc all came with the tractor. a digitial clock would be much easier to add when the tractor is being built, and buying in mass quantity i'd bet it could be added and installed for under 10 bucks. But if none of the tractor manufactorors are adding them, then there is no peer preasure to add it, cause the customer won't say "that NH i was looking at had a clock"...
Really, not a big deal, just an observation. I'll be looking for one and if i find a source I'll share it with ya charliebrn. I was in Radio Shack yesterday and they didn't have anything to fit the bill. Just a little round white one that I'd need a magnifying glass to read, unless i got real close. I'll keep looking.

Re: Where\'s the clock?

In same boat here, so I took an old casio watch and strapped it around the steering wheel spoke. It's an analog watch verses digital so doesn't do the blackout thing when it gets hot.

Re: Where\'s the clock?

Wal Mart has a battery operated digital auto clock with numbers about 3/4" high. I bought one and put it inside on the canopy frame, right above the steering wheel with velcro. I found the pieces on the ground under where I park the tractor. Moral: Use a better attachment method than Velcro. Perehaps a Chalkley Magnet?
