Continuing with the love affair with my new Bobcat CT2040 I thought the challenge of finding its oil filler cap would be interesting. Hint - It's not shown in the 2nd photo on top of the valve cover where it would've been easiest to access had the hood been better designed.

Found it! Is that really the only one on the entire engine? Is it possible to reorganize what's in front of it and get better access?

Yes, that's the only one (I know of) on the engine. The wires in front of the cap are tightly packed in front of it so pushing them aside is difficult. Relocating them is beyond something I care to do, especially considering it's a new tractor. I now find it laughable the claims made by Bobcat about all of the easily accessible service items. Yeah, the oil filter, air filter and battery are easy to get to but try to put oil in the engine. They're understandably silent about that.

I'm sure it gets frustrating sneaking the funnel in between the wires, only to have it suddenly moving exactly when you start pouring. That fuel filter almost on top of it doesn't help either.

I was checking some pictures and videos online and some do have the wires routed slightly different.

On mine, being that the engine is used on various applications, they put a filler cap on the top of the valve cover and another on the side of the engine on the timing cover, this one is accessible without even lifting the hood. It just so happens that on my tractor, both are easily accessible. On tractors with DPF, the one on the valve cover does get blocked though.

Thanks Midniteoyl! Actually, seeing your video in advance helped me find the oil fill cap. It still wasn't that easy to find though. The other content in the video was very helpful. Good job on it.

Mine also has a twist off on the top of the valve cover in the rear near firewall. Similar to a car. Still tricky to get under the loader & hood.
