I was wondering if he got his problems resolved...

Thanks for the concern, ;)

Some of the problems. The oil (hydraulic) leak is very minor, now, it was in the "pressurized" unit mounted at the rear of the engine compartment. Instead of pouring out fluid, it now only drips here and there.

The brush kit came in for the alternator (generator?). It kept popping the circuit breaker, but didn't shut off the engine, this time. After about an hour, it stopped popping the cir-breaker. It runs fine but the voltage gauge runs high, around 15v while running. I ran it about 6 hours on a job and it didn't breakdown. So for right now its usable.

I'm gonna be servicing it soon, might switch the engine over to Amsoil to help with the cooling.

Glad things are shaping up for you on this one. Spring is fast approaching (I guess if you live in the east it is already here?) Out west it is bad news. Day Laborers who would work the farms are flooding the cities.

Love to hear your results with Amsoil.

Carl

I have had Amsoil in the engine for a couple of years. My impression has been that it starts slightly faster in the cold, and runs slightly cooler, but I have nothing but a feeling, which might be wishful thinking to justify the cost. I haven't yet put in the Amsoil Hydraulic fluid.

One of my trucks, the 97 Dodge 2500 CTD had always had Amsoil in it. (I knew the prev. owner). I bought it at 205K miles. I have two other Dodge diesels, the one that was amsoiled cranks over much, much easier than the other two..one os a 97 12v Cummins just like it, but with 265K miles.

Unfortunately I had to switch it back to dino oil..too expensive to keep amsoil for just that one truck.
