Where do you carry your gun on your tractor?

Now that I have the tractor, I was wondering where would be best to put a gun? Don't have big enough place to have need for a high powered rifle, or Ar. Was thinking super Blackhawk mounted in a left handed holster mounted to right hand side roll bar. Would need to be leather and removable or kydex hard mounted with holes for drainage. Don't like a floppy holster, would rather have a retention system of some kind. Loaded with rat shot and semi wad cutters should do ok for small critters. What do you use?

Using a Cross Breed holster with molded kydex to carry mine on my waist. Affords me the comfort of knowing it's wherabouts and controls access to it.

I've tried different methods rifle in a hard case, open carry on my belt and concealed under my shirt and now I just use a fanny pack velcro strapped to the side handles in my cab tractors.

With open carry on open station tractors, I accumulated enough crud it required daily cleaning.

Was hoping to run a super Blackhawk for the extra distance it would afford on dog sized critters. Have a milt sparks iwb for the full size 1911 and several others in kydex for the 1911 but my plan was for the .44 to be my hunting gun next fall and was hoping to carry it on the tractor for misc field rats, etc this year. But you bring up a good point about the dirt on an open station tractor, I had carried a 1911 under a t shirt with a long sleeve cover, and it was nasty at the end of a day of bush hogging. May have to re think this some. William.

I am a big fan of the Ruger Super Blackhawk, own an Old Model and New Model and prefer it to the Redhawk or S&W 629 Classic. I killed my first deer with one many years ago.

I have a leather scabbard strapped to the FEL bracket back at the operator station for long guns. But I always have a 1911 on my side in a milt Sparks Summer Special IWB......always.

It depends on how often you get on and off the tractor. I get off quite often so carry in a holster on my hip. Just as sure as anything, you'll be off the tractor and need the gun in my experience.

If you stay on the tractor it would seem that the best place to store the gun is somewhere in front of you within easy reach. Turning around to reach the gun would take your eyes off of the target. The FEL vertical support arms would be a likely candidate.

I just have a single shot 410. I sit it upright between the throttle and the dashboard cover. Have taken down several hooves rats this way. They're drawn to the sound of the tractor and stop and stare. Spare shells lay on top the dashboard display plastic.

When I carry, its a Dan Wesson .357 wheel gun on my waist with a nylon holster. Thankfully, haven't needed it, but nice insurance!
