I have an old (1979) B7100HST that has run beautifully for 30 some years, but over the past two years, the transmission has been increasingly hesitant, at first being slow to respond when I depressed the forward or backward foot pedal, then taking up to 20 seconds to kick in for about 6 months. Then, two weeks ago, it made its last response. Mechanics seem OK (input shaft and PTO turning well), and the hydraulic oil seems to be flowing (as seen through the oil cap hole).
I've tried all the easy fixes (which are about all my time and skills allow), except cleaning the "strainer(s)", which (as I learned from generous contributors to this site -- and many thanks!)are supposed to be located at the end of the hydraulic pipes near the back tires, with about a 24mm bolt head.
I found one such bolt head -- but it is connected only to a hydraulic "bolt" that holds the connecting linkage to the hydraulic pipe (solid pipe, not hose). No strainer, and no sign of any other 24mm or so bolt head.
The Kubota manual for this model says my next step is to "inspect and clean up strainer". I suspect the strainer may be clogged, as it has never been discovered in 33 years, and I have been less than diligent in changing my hydraulic oil and filter.
Can you help me find the strainer that (according to the official manual) is supposed to be cleaned?
Or, can you recommend a good Kubota mechanic in the Sacramento, CA, area who will make barn calls?
Many thanks for anything you can offer!
