Hi all

I get a little sad to see the jobs all going out of the country. As an old dog it still bothers me. Heck, I have never bought a foreign car yet. Of course I'd bet my good old USA ride has a lot of foreign parts. By the way, I'm an American car hold out, but I have a Mahindra.

Cheers......Coffeeman

Power Trac, Bobcat, ASV, etc.....

Of course, quite a variety of engines even in those.

I drive a Chevy Trailblazer, and my wife a Pontiac Montana.
I have a John Deere tractor, and lawn tractor, with a Deere Gator. I support 'home' as much as I can. I'll even pay more for 'made in USA', and I expect that those in other countries should support their country as much as they can too.

I have no major problem with those who want to buy whatever. Because I buy USA, doesn't mean I expect others to do it unless they want to do that.

It seems that about the only thing you can buy that is truly "made" in the USA is commodities like crops and beef. I don't have a trinket in sight that was made here, my GM pickup in the garage is from Candada eh.

My Kubota was made in the U.S.A.

( Kubota Manufacturing of America (KMA) was formed in 1988 as Kubota’s North American manufacturing base. KMA manufactures and assembles Kubota lawn tractors, zero-turn mowers, sub-compact tractors, loaders, backhoes and other implements. The company employs 1200 workers. Two master buildings offer 616,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Today, one-third of all Kubota branded equipment sold in the United States is manufactured or assembled at its 151-acre Gainesville, Georgia facility. )

Although I agree with the fact that it is made in the USA, you need to keep in mind that like Toyota, Honda,etc....., the design and most of the parts that are made in Japan. This means that probably 10% of the final product is truly American made. Lots of money NOT being spread around in the States.

With that said, American manufacturers do things the other way arround. You hear about parts being from other countries, but most of the money is kept here in the good ol USA. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The problem with Made in the USA really doesn't mean Made In the USA.

The Kubota plant you are talking about form my understanding assembles the Kubota products there. The motors, the transmissions are all made elsewhere. My New Holland is made in the USA also. To me that is not true either. The motor is imported along with many other items. I don't think there is any compact that is truly and totally made in the USA.

They're all orphans. Not made in any one place. Global economy or something like that. Cars, tractors, boats, dishwashers, etc. all made up of components and then assembled in various places.

Made in USA ... my foot.

I have to assume that Kubota is not lying. They claim that they manufacture AND assemble in Georgia. Manufacture means to process a raw material into a finished product. They also claim that they make the diesel engines in the U.S.A. See:
http://www.kubotaengine.com/

So I wonder how much of my bx-22 came from Japan, if any?

Some large sub-assemblies like the FEL, and I think the BH backhoes, are wholly manufactured and assembled in Georgia. I would guess that other main sub-assemblies are made elsewhere and imported then assembled into the complete tractor in Georgia. Some tractors are completely imported except for the FEL. Some sub-assemblies may be produced in a foreign country then built up with parts made in other countries. It's called the global economy.
