I couldn't tell you about which species are more likey to be windshook... I do know that the same thing can happen when trees are pushed over with a dozer, and maybe didn't get the roots all cut off, and rocked it back and forth for a while.

DJ54; You are correct it, it can happen to any tree, depending on the location, the density of the forest, soil make up etc... Some folks think if they clear cut around a patch of trees that the ones in the center will become beautifull. The problem with this is if the tree is allready_____feet tall it has a high chance of being blown over{wind shear} because it never really had the challenge of wind before.
