I think my question says it all...
I want to get the fertilizer benefit as well as killing the weeds, especially the dandelions. The lawns and fields are too wet to get out now, but as soon as they dry out, should the gluten be applied then?

The best time is the fall. If you can't get it then, very early spring is next. Remember, the corn gluten meal will inhibit weed seed germination. You have to get to the seed before they germinate or you are just fertilizing the weeds.

Should the timing be the same as for chemical pre-emergents? If so, isn't the rule of thumb to put it down when the forsythia start blooming?
