I have decided I am going to get a 16' Doolittle trailer, I am going to have to order it since I want brakes on both axles. I can either get hydraulic brakes, remote wireless brakes or I guess just regular brakes that you use the controller. Which one of those should I get? Thanks for all the advice.

There are a lot of ' depends on ' with trailer brakes. I don't use my 16' trailer much, had hyd surge... and rebuilt my brakes and went to electric with a Tekonsha P3 controller... and I am HAPPY..!!!! Happy I say...!!! :) [ money well spent, but I could have gotten a little better setup for LOTs more buckazoids, that's where the 'depends on' starts ]

hyd/surge are a pain in the butt, no experience with wireless. My choice is the electric brakes and a good controller. CJ

I dunno -- all I had were electric brakes with controller. I pulled a boat and uhaul with hydraulics and I somehow like the electric ones better. I can manually use trailer brakes instead of both vehicle and trailer when loaded. You cant exactly do that with surge on a icy road. Wireless?! I'd leave that to my wifi or phones not on my trailers.

Personally I run disc hydraulic on my trailers except one and it just has plain old electric drums. No comparison. The disc is three times stronger and ten times easier to msintain.

My employer has over 200 trailers, all electric, 1965 to 2012 models, single axle up to double axle with duals. We have very few problems, the breakaway bateries were the most common isue. Since installing solar chargers on all trailers, this has been resolved. Some trailer plug and wire issues, damaged from opperators. I have elctric brakes on both my cars trailers and drum hydralic surge brakes on my boat trailer, they never have worked right. I have heard that hydralic disc, are much more reliable than hydalic drum. If it was me,I would get electric.

Thanks for the advice, electric brakes with the controller is what I will get. The truck I bought already has a brake controller in it. Hopefully, its a good one if not what is a good one?

I have electric but do wish I had them on both axles, just seems more efficient.

After having single axle brakes for yrs. I just finished installing larger axles on my trailer. It's great to have elec. brakes on both axles
