What\'s the best Kubota equivalent to a NH TC35 OR

Need quick info... getting down to the line and I've heard enough people tell me to look at Kubota that now I'm ready to cave... (just don't like the local dealers much). I've been looking at the NH TC35 and Kioti DK35... .what's the best Kubota equivalent? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm getting hungry to make my big purchase and want to make sure I'm making the "right" decision. JD is out...just not enough value for the dollars... I don't need fancy electronics... I need performance! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Some folks compare tractors based on displacement of the engine, but a far more accurate way is probably going to come down to value. I think the L3830 or L4330 will compare closest in the 30 series. You can also get the no thrills models like the XXX0 series which don't have HST and some of the other whistles.

I don't need HST. SST is fine... I would like a FEL (Heavy duty). Thanks for the fast response RaT. Don't need bells and whistles (heck, I have a Ford 8n)... need 4WD... need a grill guard, foldable ROPS, and good wheel weights.

L3710, L3830, L3430. I would just go to www.kubota.com and compare some specs. You would be looking in the L series.

Shuttle shift is a great transmission. 4WD is a given anymore. I think you could get a bargain on the old L series, the L3710 might be a great deal, good size loader, 4 cylinder diesel, big tires.

Well, according to Kubota… they claim their L3830 is the equivalent to the NH35…

Kubota’s Comparison Charts… versus Truer TC35 vs L3430 Compare

But, if you take a look at Kubota’s comparison charts, they are definitely Not comparing apples with apples. On every comparison, they “skew” the models of other mfrs. “down” and “skew” their models “up” so everything you see will show Kubota as more favorable…

I would say the Kubota L3430 is the most equivalent to the NH TC35, and if this is true… the New Holland spec’s on paper out shine and out spec. the Kubota… /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

John, I'm concluding the same thing...as it looks right now... I'm still comparing NH to KIOTI... if I could get by after sale svc and resale value, I'd probably be buying KIOTI...just not there so that leaves me back in the NH dealers office... will let you know how it goes /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: What\'s the best Kubota equivalent to a NH TC35

I too, was leaning toward the NH, - my kid uses the TC40 at work and said that was the one I should buy. I went to a Kub/NH dealership and took the TC35 and TC40 out for a test run, then the dealer said - Hey try the Kubota. For me, it was the Kubota hands down.
I took my kid shopping with me at another Kub/NH dealer and got him to run both tractors. He said - ya your right dad the Kubota is the one.
So dont got by just the specs on the site, but actually go and test drive each "color".
Let us know what you think.

Re: What\'s the best Kubota equivalent to a NH TC35 OR

One thing I found John, I am able to get a L3830 HST for a slightly better price then a TC35D. I know some folks require a machine match engine displacement /HP very closely in order for it to be fair. What if one took a little different approach and said, for $20,000, what amount of tractor can I get. A Kubota L3830 HST or a NH TC35D is what I found out. For $20K, I get a little more displacement. After testing each model rigourously, I can also tell you I'm getting a whole lot more then that. That is something one rarely decides by reading a brochure or website. If the L3830 doesn't do it for you, the L4330 may and its cost was definitely less then the TC40D yet it has a 134.1 cu in displacement while the TC40D has a 121.7, so realisticly, by your standards, only the TC45D should be compared. Theres still another Kubota compact or two after that. So you guys decide, if a tractor can only compare by engine size, then the Kubota website comparing tractors is skewed and favors their tractors (hard to believe a company would do that) or on the otherhand, if you compare by how much tractor you can get for a given amount of money, especially when you compare retail sales prices, it's another story and in my opinion, quite accurate. Rat...

(This is the question, I answered…)

Hi Mark,

Value and being equivalent are two different things… /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you want to talk value, we can bring into the equation “utility sized” 2-WD geared tractors with very large displacement powerplants… but then again the word “value” denotes different things to different people… I imagine that’s one of the reasons we have a zillion tractor choices confronting us out there…/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dollar value also varies throughout the U.S. in the many different regions…(ex. The Kubota brand can be dirt cheap in your backyard, with Deere being expensive… then just the complete opposite with Deere being very inexpensive in my backyard and the Kubota brand very expensive…)

There is no doubt all the manufacturers, wants to convince the buyer… that they are the best, they are the ones to buy… that’s just wholesome marketing techniques…

But, I firmly believe the majority of the Kubota Comparison Charts on their website are very misleading to a newbie/greenhorn first time tractor buyer… (Most of the models Kubota is comparing, are NOT equivalent to each other…)

You just can’t begin to compare a 80” wheelbase, 70 PTO hp tractor to a 65” wheelbase, 25 PTO hp tractor… there is NO Comparison… (exaggerated example) even though both may cost $20,000… /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif (actually the 70 HP tractor is much cheaper than that…) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
