While i am not the average home owner, i would have to say i will get more use out of a tracked skid loader once i have when then i do my tractor. Right now i cant clean my barns out because i cant get a tractor turned around inside. Also my tractors sink in the mud. I do not have a concrete feed lot for my cattle. So in the fall and spring i am dealing with mud. Alot of times even as mucky as it gets, i can almost walk across the top of the mud. Now i am 350pounds, most of these skid loaders have a ground pressure of 3.5psi.
Also i wouldnt say they dont have traction. I was pushing a junk pile farther down into a ditch that my 806 wouldnt move. The tracked skid loader i had would push and push and push. Also i feel they have more control in them. Yes they have their negatives, they beat the crap out of you in rough ground. They are not as stable, but unless if your going up a really steep hill your not going to dump it. As said above the tracked ones are a game changer.
For your average home owner use, get your self a good 4x4 tractor with a fel and have fun.
