Trade in value vs selling on your own on clist or however will be $1500-$2000ish difference. Depends on how fast you need to do it.

Nowhere near what you probably want. Here are some new prices I found:
218 Yanmar 424 Tractor KEY EQUIPMENT MCALESTER Oklahoma | Fastline
Yanmar USA Sa 424 TL for sale in Irmo, SC | R & R Motors Inc. (83) 781-4444

Those dealers are selling new @ $15500 basically.

A dealer is going to want to make money on resale so they'll give you thousands less. That tractor probably looks brand new with only 21 hours. Heck, I test drove a 2017 New Holland T4.75 on a dealer's lot that had 24 hours on it from all the previous test drives. Why don't you try listing it locally for $15,000 and see if you can get a buyer before you take a hit on it trading it in. If you can sell it outright you'll have thousands more towards your upgrade purchase.

If the pricing is close to retail, a buyer is better off going new, and take advantage of factory financing, especially the zero interest rate.

Can OP offer financing? Likely not.. Is warranty transferable? Even so, at retail used, buyer is better off establishing their own dealer relationship.

Is there a channel or finance lien against this existing machine? I would require owner own the tractor free and clear before any $$ change hands Not willing to advance seller $ to pay off loan, too messy. Existing loan, if one exists, could be attractive if lender would allow a new owner to assume that loan. If OP is expecting a profit in selling the tractor, I have a vacation time share for sale and some bit coins as well.

Unless the OP is willing to take a loss, this sale offers no advantages except perhaps a sales tax savings if applicable.

Curious, why do you wish to sell after only 21hrs? Don’t like the machine? Want to upgrade? Moving?

The 424 is a nice machine.

I should have put this listing in previous post as well to show the 2 dealers selling new at $15500 might be selling at great price. This other dealer is selling a used machine for way more ($16,900). What did the OP pay for his tractor?

We don't know what the OP paid for his tractor or if he paid cash or is financing. Obviously if he has a loan out then that is a problem and easier to go the trade-in route but there is nothing wrong with him trying what I suggested if he outright owns the tractor. Most likely any interested parties will want to haggle anyways so better to not start your price too low to start with to allow for haggling down. The only other thing the OP can do is outright ask a dealer what they will offer him for his tractor so he has a baseline if he decides to try selling himself but it seems in the original post he is trying to get a feel of trade-in offer $$ to expect for his tractor so he is not getting a lowball offer when shopping for new tractor.

At 2 years old I wouldn't expect the OP to make a profit either but figured it wouldn't hurt to make a suggestion he could take to minimize his losses.

Major, let me try out that time share and I'll let you know if I want to make an offer for it. :D

Guys thanks for the responses- I do have a loan but am about to pay it off- The tractor is great but to small for my property- I was thinking on trade it would be worth around $10K- Does that seem right?? just want an idea before I go shopping-- thks

I was going to give a guess of $10k - $12k for trade-in but didn't want to say it and lead you astray if you could get more. Of course, if you think you're getting a low offer you can always counter-offer any trade-in offer or walk away from the sale if you're not in a rush. Do you have a tractor in mind already or are you still figuring out what tractor options you have to better take care of the property?

Your Yanmar dealer might give you a good price on the trade if you upgrade to a new YT235 which would be plenty for 2 acres. 21 hours on the 424 is practically brand new.

Yours is small enough to just carry around to a couple dealers and see what they offer on trade. I did my LS that way. Closest Kubota dealer said they'd sell on consignment, but not take as trade in - they would only trade for Kubotas since that's their brand. Other dealers (incl different Kubota) all offered exact same # or within $100 so that gave me a pretty good idea of what I should expect.

While I thought it was a fair offer - left them enough to make some $ reselling and I wouldn't have to deal with 500 yahoos and scammers on clist - I knew what it was worth and put it on clist. Got it gone pretty quick and got all my $ back out of it (I had bought it slightly used with ~20 hrs on it). I wasn't in a mad rush to buy a new one - was shopping, but the LS was handling most of what I needed anyway. Was also in a position where if I had 1, 2, or 0 tractors for a short while no big deal - if I had to go a few weeks with no tractor, projects could wait or grass grow... So put it up for sale while I finalized what I wanted to buy. Worst case, nobody would buy it and I trade it in for $10k when picking up new one. Worked out though that someone did buy it and offered me exactly what I was looking to get out if it. I could look at it like I got the 6' rotary tiller and all fluids and filters for 1st service free since that was difference in $ of me selling privately vs trading in.
