What's it worth

Lincon ideal arc 250 AC DC,TIG torch with miller cooling system. Two helments and assorted 4130 steel filler rods and assorted alluminum rods. I beleive it is 15 years old but with little usage. I am the only one that uses it at the shop and I only use it 5 to 7 times a year for 30 minutes at a time.

Voltage plays a part in a machines worth. What is it? 3 phase only capability can reduce a units value as much as 50 percent.

Inputs are 208, 230 both single and 480 v. The shop is thinking of sellin it and I wanted to know what a fair price would be to bid on it. I want it for my house\shop. I would hook it up 230v I guess and hopfully it would work fine. I hace 220/230v at my house

A local fab shop that recently closed due to the sudden death of the owners son just sold 5 of these units. Same set up w/o rods and helmets. They were offering them for $350 each which I felt was very reasonable for a good condition machine similar to what you describe. The owner was supposed to save me a cherry unit but when I got there another guy was loading the last nice machine.....the owner claimed to have confused the two of us. I went home without one and was not happy! I don't know if this price is typical but it is what they asked and what others and I were obviously willing to pay. The other side of the coin is that he had 1 machine w/o a torch and was rough and he couldn't sell it for $250.

I've seen them similar priced on Craigslist.
$350 - $800.

Not sure which are selling though

OK, I know it is a little bit of an old thread but I got the machine. Hooked it up and it is operational. I am looking for a few basic pieces of info. The best book I have on welding to determine electrode size and type was reprinted in March of 1982. I purchased this book in trade school about 20 years ago. I am looking for a site containing good info on rods and fillers and such. I am also looking into tank options for argon. Is it better to rent or buy, and how much is a fair rate?.....................Thanks all
