This tractor (pics at the bottom) belongs to my friend. He is looking to sell it. I may wind up being asked to sell it. It is a very nice, clean, low hour 1986 John Deere 2350. It has 838 hours, 8/4 gear trans, one set of rear remotes, everything works, new front tires, rear at 70-75%. My friend is quite **** about his equipment most seals and hydraulics lines have been replaced in the past 2-3 yrs. It was garaged fro the time he bought it 7ish years ago until 18ish months ago, i don't know about before he got it. He sold his home and the tractor now lives at his sister's, I couldn't believe it was outdoors when i saw it, but his sister doesn't have the space. It comes with a 6ft John Deere grooming mower, a 6ft "bushhog" brand bushhog. and a 6ft rollover blade. He bought it in GA to maintain a grass airstrip. It is now located in MD. It was last used about 6 weeks ago, end Oct. I have looked at Tractorhouse.com and found a range from $6,900 (bottom of the line) - $20,000 (cab and front end loader). It is a clean tractor, however i don't see it bringing $7000 maybe I'm wrong. It doesn't seem to be an in demand tractor to me. Anyway pics:

thoughts? opinions?

JD 50 & 55 series utility tractors were some of the best that JD built. Your friends tractor also has the heavier rack & pinion rear cast wheels which was an option. If the hrs are correct it would bring a lot more than $7000 even without a loader down here in Texas. I have a neighbor that's been looking for one.

Nice looking tractor good for level land use. Most of the guys today wan't 4x4 but this tractor has enough weight to get a lot done for its hp. The people who are considering a 5000 series D tractor should give this a hard look.

If it is mechanically good (good clutch, engine strong and not smoking) I would price it at $11,500 and take $10,000 bottom dollar bare tractor, price the implements separate.
They heavy and stout tractors. With the wheels it has and good ag tires it will make an *** out of same horse power 4x4 smaller tractor when it comes to any kind of tillage / plowing.
I had a 2355 and it was pulling SOB.

Also - most of them you see the tins are beat to **** - this one is pristine.

These tractors are iconic - I agree with the assessment this tractor was one of the best ever built. I think it is worth $10k as well with those hours. With some work to fit up a new John Deere loader, this tractor is a lifetime purchase. They were beyond their day in durability and a pleasure to drive.

For sure 2wd is going the way of the dodo bird but for a small square baler, hay raking, bush hogging, and many other functions, this tractor is beyond compare for its day.

must be a location thing. i see very few utility sized tractors around this area. most guys are big time farmers with bigger AG tractors, or have little CUTs with 4x4 and a loader. i agree that it will last a lifetime. around here you can go to almost any farm auction and find several 55ish HP diesel tractors 2wd for $3000-4000 grant at that price they are not as clean or with as low hours, but that was where my thinking went

Put it on Craigslist over a larger region, used plenty of key words so it gets searched right and somebody will come get it.
