What did Kubota change from the BX2200 to the BX2230. The local dealer has a new 2200 with a 60' deck that he said he could sell for less than $8k. I know that the 22 is the old model. But for the cost savings, The only visible difference looks the be the hood and lights. I have an 86 Ford 1210 that has been great but 0% for 3 years looks nice. Any one want a nice 4X4 1210 W/48 mid mount deck?

Ernest; As I understand it, the differences include a high back seat, cruise control, and a different FEL attaching design (the control stays on the 2230.) Also, the 2230 has a different model engine. The only thing that really impressed me on the 2230 was the seat. If the 2200 is a good deal for you, I know I would buy it !

Thanks for the reply. I dont need the FEL or cruise control. Is the engine change any big thing?

Just my two cents worth here. The "rocker" type pedal design on the BX is not as comfortable (to me anyway) as one where you can place your heel on the platform while you push the pedal. Kinda like a car. The cruise is really worhwhile
if you are cutting long strips or areas where you maintain a constant speed for a while. Try out the 2200 a bit if you can.

The engine change is because of the Federal regulations that are going into effect in 2005 I believe. Personally, I prefer the older engine because it is already proven reliable. I don't know anything about the new engine except that it is lighter in weight and meets the new emission standards. I have a unfounded suspicion that it isn't as good an engine as the older one, because they are still using the older design engine in the BX23. This might be just because they still have a large inventory of the engines, or it might be for other reasons. What ever the reason is, I prefer a engine that is time tested, as opposed to a new engine that is being tested on the tractoring public......

Junkman
The new engine in the BX2230 is the same one used in the new RTV900 utility vehicles. The D902 is a little smaller and smoother than the D905 and those were considerations also. Streamlining production is one way Kubota keeps costs down and that is possible since they are using their own components to build tractors.

I have already found that the HUGE rocker pedal also makes mounting and dismounting the tractor more of a manuever. Between that and all the levers on the fenders that like to snag my shorts, ha, ha.

I have to get used to letting off the pedal more gradually, especially in reverse, so I stop getting whiplash, ha, ha.

So the 2200 has a smaller smother engine and different controls for forward and reverse. It sounds like the 2200 is more user friendly.

No, the 2200 has the same pedal as the 2230, just no cruise. But I see that Junkman said they are coming out with a kit to fir cruise to the 2200. And I can't tell a difference in smoothness and quietness between the two. ( Thats subjective though)
