Yanmar SC2400
I've determined a SCUT is what I need to take care of the large yard, maintain the gravel drive and so some landscaping around the property.

I am looking at a 2010 Yanmar SC2400 with FEL, MMM, rear blade and a cab enclosure. The tractor has 155 hours so it hasn't been used a lot the last three years.

I would appreciate your thoughts on buying the package for $10,000. The local dealer is telling me a new sc2400 with the FEL and MMM will cost me about $14000. What can I expect the bottom price to be at the dealer for a new one? The new tractor would have the complete warranty but is that a significant concern. These tractors seem to be very reliable based on the information I've read. A rear blade is not too expensive and the cab encloure is nice but I'm not sure it's really beneficial.

What does everyone think. Should I go with the used tractor or pay the extra dollars for the new one?

Thank,
Dave

Sounds like a good price to me, especially with the cab.

I would be all over it.

P.S. That cab will save your butt if you run into bees while landscaping, and if you do snow removal they are a blessing.

Cabs range from about $1,000 to about $5,000, depending on the brand and style.

I think that is a GREAT deal! My SCUT is about that age, with nearly those attachments, no way I'd sell it for $tenK.

:welcome: to TBN!

seems like a very good price for the year and hours. What kind of cab....soft or hard? You can probably get a new one for under 14K, or a new leftover for a bit less...but then taxes.....
With the quality in these newer machines, I personally wouldn't get overly concerned about the warranty.
10K would be a go for me!

SC2400 01.jpgI did it!! I brought the SC2400 home last night. Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm looking forward to using the tractor for some extensive landscaping as well as more mundane lawn cutting. The cab isn't on the tractor. I took it off to minimise any possibility of damage going down the highway. Here's a couple picturesSC2400 02.jpg

Congratulations. I had the same model for 2 years and never had a problem. I was amazed at the amount of work it did. Sounds like a great deal also. Enjoy!

Now that I have the tractor, I'm thinking about additional implements. The one that comes to mind is a box blade. Any thoughts on a good BB for this tractor. I've looked at BB's made for SCUTs and the same width BB that's not specifically identified as being for a SCUT.

What's the difference and should I be looking at anything specific to be sure I get a unit that works with my tractor.
