Whats a FEL weigh?

I'm buying a trailer, and was curious about the approx weight of a typical FEL? I've never seen it listed in any specs. Just want to be sure to get enough trailer for my needs. Estimate is OK. Typical loader w/ 6' bucket on a 40hp compact tractor? 1000lbs? 2000lbs?

Want enough trailer for a 5000 lb tractor, 1500 lb cultipacker, 1000lb disk, + ?lb loader? I'm thinking I may need a 22' 6 ton vs the more common 5 ton trailers.

I would guesstimate 700-800 lbs.

The FEL on my Montana 2740 adds 950 lbs. (loader+bucket+addl. oil, etc.)...Dan.

Not to pick nits, but might as well start out with your existing assumptions;
Very FEW 40 HP tractors will weigh 5,000 lbs, Kubotas are somewhere in the 3600 to 3800 range, which some folk consider good for mowing because that is at the light end of things. Bransons and some JDs in the 40 to 50 HP range are 4,000 lbs.
A 42 or 47 HP Branson is 4,000 lbs bare tractor, the loader with 6ft bucket is 1300 lbs.
(Spec sheet quotes).
I don't know if or why you would want to carry a 1500 lb packer and 1,000 lb disk for a 40 HP tractor around with you, both seem kinda hefty for 40 HP - anyway, that isn't what you asked.

I'd figure 5,000 to 5,300 for a 40 HP tractor WITH loader and 6 ft bucket.
Add another 1,000 if you load R4s with RimGuard.

My current tractor is a old ford 2910 w/o the FEL it weighs 4350, add the water/antifreeze in the tires, I figure pretty close to 5k. The disk is really only 850, but the cultipacker is a old 7' dunham double, HEAVY.

I have two John Deere utility tractor from the 70's.....820 and 830 rated by Deere under 35 hp and weigh in at 4200 and 5100 lbs.(loaded tires).

New tractors are lighter weight and more HP....Kubota would call my 152 cu in engines 50 hp in an orange chassis!!

My old ones still run great and boy with that weight they pull lots for their HP rating.

I think most of us KNOW that the older tractors were heavier and rated lower HP.

The root poster SEEMED TO BE asking about FELs for recent model compacts of around 40 HP - "current" power rating method, "current" weights, etc.

I was in the same situation last year and went w/ the 12,000 lb trailer just b/c I didn't want to be pulling a trailer at 100% capacity and stressing it out. My thought was that I would really rather load it 75 to 80% capacity. The downside is that the trailer weighs more b/c it's more heavy duty and rides rough w/ a light load.
