What year is this tractor?

Picked a Deutz tractor up at an auction for decent price no information on it as previous owner was deceased. Have no experience with this brand and i am curious what year it is. The model is a Deutz D 5506. Serial number 789474765 was able to interpret the engine number F4L 912. Any help with a rough guess on age would be helpful i have seen on tractordata.com that they were made from 1968 to 1974 other than that i have found no help on identifying year model.

In the US the light lens were dated at one time. Look and see if yours has a date on them. That well get you in the ball park.

Not to take sides, but he did tell him something: that it doesn't make much difference. Whether or not that's true, I don't know in this instance.

Nice looking machine, though. What're you planning on doing with it? Tires look like there's only 30% tread or so left, so depending on your application, they might warrant replacement, but for many tasks, they would work fine. Can we ask what a "good price" is?

There are probably folks here that know more about Deutz tractors than I do, but to me, the paint on that tractor looks like the later color grn. paint, the belly paint looks like the wrong color too. (for the year) BUT, the dash gives it away, it's an early year tractor, and more picts. would also confirm that.

Early Deutz tractors had (among other things) different seats, tires, hydraulic filter, even things about the 3 point were different...

I used to check the tail light lens for a date when I helped out on a used car lot. I never new it applied to tractor lights too.

Looks to be in good condition, I don't see those around but they made a lot of good equipment.

Im going to use ut for just around the house tractor. Going to get a back blade to move dirt and some food plot stuff prolly. Im not worried about the tires there isent much tread at all on them i paid 1750 for the tractor. Every works great jusy need to find out how shut off the pto and going to switch out the hydraulics also.
