Hello,

JD dealer called me this morning and said he took in a 2002 4110 4WD, hydro, r1's and 410 loader in trade over the weekend. He said it has less than 50 hours on it and is in like new condition.

I had him figure in the payment for 60 mos. on the used vs. new w/ imatch, ballast box, block heater, work light, 46 hoe w/ 13" bucket.

The payment difference is ~ $37.00/mo. Should I go new or used? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

$2200 difference over 5 years. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
IMHO go with new.

I had somewhat the same situation when I was purchasing a 4310.
The difference between new and used was around $2000, similar to your 60 payments at $37.00.
Your used unit will be three years old and off warranty soon, if not already.
In my situation, $2000 was not enough to buy used.

Good luck

If you do decide to go with the used one, check how much warenty is left. Second, make sure a full 50 hour service is inlcuded in the price (this can be a significant item).

He's giving you about a 15% discount (on the base tractor and FEL) to buy a 50hour machine, which is pretty good, but it's the wareny period that's the problem. Of course, if you could also get an extended warenty folded into the deal, that point would be moot and the comparison would be equal.

50 hours is nothing. I agree on getting him to give you a full warranty or have him go down a little more on the price and go for it.

Unless that new-tractor-smell is something you have to have, I'd go used.

%15 off for used is a bit shy in terms of value, so try and push them down a bit more,

BUT

You would be getting the same thing that you already wanted to buy for $2200 less. $2200 is nothing to sneeze at.

If something does break, $2200 in your hand goes a long way towards fixing it, and you KNOW its covered by your own funds, with no expiration or limitations on that self-warranty. The factory warranty will expire long before you stop using the tractor, and it has limitations for things like abuse, acts of God, etc.

I agree with the other posters, 50 hours is nothing as far as wear-out of the tractor.

Also, the 50 hour service is a good thing to ask for.

How much discounted from list was the new one to start with?

Find out why previous owner traded it.

Try and find out what he was credited in the deal.

15% off list hardly counts as an amazing deal for NEW let alone used, or did I miss something..?

Considering financing charge is included the $2200. There is even less difference between old and new.

I just talked to one of the ladies in the dealer's office and they are going to give me a 24 month/500 hour warranty for $300 and some change. Total savings is over $1900 over new with the same warranty. JD bachoe is new regardless. 50 hour service is included.

I guess I am going to get the used one.

Once again,

Thanks for all of the advice,

Tombo.

Tombo,

I have to agree with Rocky. If the price you are getting is only 15% off of full list that is not a good deal at all. I know several dealers that will sell you brand new at 15% off of list all day long. How much are you actually getting off of list price?
