Been looking for tractors in the 70-85 pto hp range. Will use for dealing with snow in addition to mowing and field duties. Due to the cold winter weather I'd rather have a cab but may not be a deal breaker. In any case I have found several potential candidates. If anyone has an opinion or any thoughts please speak up.

1. 2002 John Deere 5520 hrs? $19,900
2. 1991 John Deere 2855n hrs? $13,500
3. 1982 John Deere 2940 hrs? $10,900
4. 2008 Deutz-Fahr Agrolux 67 hrs 500 $18,000

All of the above open station

5. 1994 Same Frutteto ii 85 cab hrs 535 $17,000

I could afford any but the less the tractor costs the more money is free for implements. Part of me is drawn to the Same for the cab but the Deutz is attractive for the fact that it is current production and I understand Deutz has a good reputation.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

I think if you gave us a little more information, someone might be able to help. For snow and mowing 70-85 HP PTO power is unnecessary and "field work" is a little vague. So maybe a little better description of what you want to do.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that much money on 30 year old/5000 hour equipment because I hate chasing parts and for around the $20,000 you are talking, you can get a pretty nice new tractor with a warranty. (Provided you don't NEED the 70-85 HP)

Good luck!

29toter, welcome to TBN.

Sounds like a cab would be your best option, atleast for snow clearing and mowing. I agree a better description of the work to perform would help us help you. I would also recommend you broaden your search area as nothing on your list above struck my fancy. Look at Machinefinder.com and Tractorhouse.com to get a better idea of what is available and starting prices. Most of these prices can be negotiated down a bit.
