John Deere 3025E
It has to be hydro, I need to be able to ted/rake hay and do loader work on my brothers farm, I think I can find something used but I need to know what to look for.. The only tractor I don't like is NH, had one and don't care for them..

Most of the tractors folks talk about on this forum are good machines. So in that regard it will be tough to go wrong. What brands are you seeing as you look around? What's your price point or vintage you are after? A 20yo machine for $5000 will steer this one way while a $40000 budget for a cab tractor will take it somewhere else.

When I was looking I was impressed by some of the "lesser known" (not JD, Kubota, Mahindra etc) brands like Kioti and Yanmar. The Kubota dealer I talked to was also a NH dealer- they pushed Kubota unless someone was specifically looking for NH. The "lesser known" brands also tend to fit between the premium and basic. So you can get things like tilt wheel, speed control, better loader control location with the lesser knowns for about the price of the big name basic models.

As a Mahindra owner I tend to read more about those machines. It appears the TYM built machines have been more prone to issues than others in the Mahindra line- a lot of tractors are made in part or whole by others. However Mahindra is still rated decent in the customer satisfaction study on this site.

Let us know those few things mentioned above and I'm sure you will receive a lot of good feedback!

If cared for, most used tractors are ok these days and I'd look before I leapt.....aka buy used and then when you know what you think you want then move up to new if that's to your liking. Shop around, drive them, look for what feels good, like an extension of your extremities. Check on parts availability and pricing. Lots of parts on www. Ask neighbors what they are using and why. Look around the area for colors. Popular colors usually mean happy customers. Get a knowledgeable person to check out your choice before buying.

So I have John Deere, Massey, Kubota and Kioti close buy.. Lots of Kubota and Deere around here. Not many Massey's or Kioti..

I didn't have Massey around me so I can't speak to that. Of the other 3 all are good. In the used world, as stated, it's a crap shoot as to what you are getting. Pay for a good inspection from a good mobile mechanic.
Two other points-
The EPA has added emissions standards in the last 5 or so years (depending on Tier and HP). With that, the machines that are the last models right before the emissions (about 5 years old) are at a premium. Depending on your age and mindset that may or may not be warranted.

The JD and Kubota tend to have higher resale. So, as stated, when new the Kioti will tend to have more features for a given cost. That tends to be amplified a bit for used machines. The JD and Kubota guys will point out the same will be true when you go to sell though

Something with warranty and has not been beaten by a previous operator can be cheaper in the long run.Compact Utility Tractors | 4 Series Tractors | John Deere US

That 4105 is in my radar for sure, I'm not looking for anything fancy, I love my little Massey but I don't care for the dealer.. I do everything on it myself or with the help of my brother.. I will have to compare the 4105 and similar Kubota, lucky for me the Deere and Kubota dealer is one in the same..

Co-worker has a 4105, complaints of hst whine is excessive. Another friend has a Kubota L4310 hst which I have used alot, hst whine isn't objectionable.

Kubota seems to have a real good track record with hst trans.

Without a doubt, a Kubota MX series. Lots of tractor for a good price point.
