What tractor do I have?

My mom and step dad owned a farm of about 60 acres not too far from me. My step dad passed away a few weeks ago and the farm has landed on my shoulders. I have a descent base knowledge of the working of the farm. One area I am lacking in is some tractor knowledge. This tractor about all I know is it is a Massey Ferguson and I believe it needs the carburetor rebuilt. Any idea how I can figure out a model and/or year??

Not really a Fergy guy but looks to me like a TO20. Look for the serial number plate, either on the engine or on the clutch bell housing. Probably brass, aluminum or satainless steel.
Take the information and look up on the net or here.
If that isn't much help then look for the nearest M-F dealer and take the info to them, along with a pic of the tractor and a pic of the number plate and one of the carb.
If the MF dealer has been around any length of time he'll likely have a carb rebuild kit in stock and even make copies of the rebuild pages from the service manual for you.

G'day and :welcome: You have a very clean looking TEA20 there and you will need to find out if it is an early or late one as they had two different carbs:confused2:, You should find the serial # on a plate on the dash just above where the column goes through.

From the pictures you have either a Ferguson 20 or 35 tractor. Locate and write down the serial number and on the internet Antique Tractors you will be able to determine the specific tractor and the year built. Might be late 1940s or mid 1950's. There are serveral manuals available and some manuals actually include Ferguson 20 and 35 into one manual.

My guess either a Ferguson 20 or 35 and possible a Ford 7, 8, 9N series tractor. Ferguson built the early Ford tractors ther should be something on a casting labeling Ferguson or Ford. Might check some castings. Locate serial number, on internet go to Antique tractor, locate manufacture. Check model years by comparing serial number. you may not find your exact S/N but they do list year and series of s/n used for each year. i.e for year 1955 might have s/n 23800 to 24800. You should be able to determine year manufactured and specific tractor.

Hope this helps. I am leaning more towards Ferguson vs Ford but I have been wrong before.

It definitely looks like a Ferguson TE-20 or TEA-20. More than likely, it's a TEA-20.

Hey there. Thank you for your help earlier. Just wanted to update with what I've figured out. After some investigating and paint removal I finall found a serial number. It's a 1955 ferguson tea-20. Thank you again!!

Okay, how did you eagle eyes determine it was a TEA20 and not a TO20 before the OP listed the nameplate data? I am impressed.

The engine is a Standard Motor engine. The left side view shows the oil fill tube above the starter. That makes it a TEA-20. The Continetal powered TE-20, TO-20 , and TO-30 have oil filler tubes ahead of the distributor.
