Disc Harrow What to look for

I am new working with a tractor and implements and so I need to ask a question. I am looking to buy a used disc harrow however do not know what are most important characteristics to look for. Only wish to plant a green field now and then of maybe 5 acres. Maybe turn up a 3 or 4 acre garden one day. Saw a used one today asking $500 but believe could get for $400. Its not adjustable and has 16 scalloped discs. But what is best, a combination of scalloped and smooth? Adjustable? Confused as to what I need.
