I've got some old equipment sitting in my barn that I want to get rid of. An old hay bailer and manure spreader. They were my grandfathers and they have been sitting for over 20 years. I'm sure they don't work. How can I get rid of them?

Thanks for your help.

Allen

Well, AllenJones where are you located?

Ditto the location question; if you're East River SD or close, I may be interested. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'd go with ebay. Post some pics, give an honest apraisal of what doesn't work and see what you can get for them.

Keep in mind, there are lots of flakes out there who will win an item, then never show up. If you go the ebay route, be sure to demand a sizeable deposit up front, and never get involved in shiping odd items like what you have. It's a nightmare you will never recover from.

Jerry, I really think a die hard Massy guy like you needs my self propelled corn picker [picture in vintage equipment]. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't have any use for a corn picker, but I have been thinking about getting a spreader. I like most MFs but they are not the end all to end all.

So you think these might be worth something? I guess I could have checked Ebay, but I didn't even think about that.

Thanks,
Allen

If they happen to be turn of the century or a particulary rare item, it's crazy what antique buyers will do on Ebay. Else, I don't think older farm equipment goes to strong there. Might be worth a try though. Who knows...maybe somebody down your way wants them for lawn orniments or may have a use for them.

I think Jerry needs your spreader though, since I can't talk him into my cornpicker /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you have pictures? Somebody might know if there's demand for the particular machines.

If they belonged to your grandfather and he farmed, and he left them in his barn... I would bet they "worked" the last time he used them. If they were left in the field I would be quicker to agree sight unseen that they didn't "work". Check them out a little better and advertise them locally. You may be surprised at the response.

Most areas have some sort of misc. sales paper that comes out weekly such as a Star Shopper or Big Nickel. I Have bought item from them, but have never sold anything in them. Most usually have a farm section.
