I have a Cub Cadet 2185 (18 HP, shaft drive) with a 48" deck and 42" 2-stage snow blower that is on it's last legs. This has worked just fine for me, only 1/2 hour of lawn cutting and snow clean-up work after the long drive has been plowed.
I have been looking at JD X-300 and 500 and Cub 2000/2100. I have been happy with the Cub and like the shaft drive. If the snow guy doesn't show I have around 1200' of drive to clear.
