What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Whats it been now, 3 years since you ordered it?

Ohh, ouch, holey socks, Tags just read your comment after using my silky smooth L48 to move a pile of clean white mason's sand and with no Kings VS Lakers game on tonight, thought I'd give the ol TBN a view. Now I see that its been called "klunky", I'm hurt. If my L48's "klunky" then I must say, every single tractor owner out there outta just sell now cuz my L48 is smoother then any tractor I have yet used which means the JD 110 must float on air. Seriously though, I certainly hope the Phantom shows up soon, summer may be over and you might just have to keep renting during what is typically the busiest time of the year for landscapers. Hope the 110 does all you have built it up to be. After about 2 weeks, give us your objective opinion. Let the 110 heat up, judge its performance, plow into berms of dirt, and try digging with a 3' bucket on the hoe, you know, give it some hard time with no one watching. I now have 140 some hours on my L48 and although still not completely qualified to give every detail about it, can say I would have liked a little better visibility on the front bucket, but then, after about 57 hours, (about the time you put in your order for the Phantom 110) I knew where it was. Other then that, its not klunky as you say. I only wish you were my neighbor so we could give the great folks at TBN a nice analysis of the two units. According to the power specifications, I can't think of one that the 110 exceeds in. But then, theres more too this stuff then just power. Don't tell me what you got, show me what you have done kinda thing. With a little more then 800 yards of tough mountain moved, 140 some hours, the L48's a pretty admirable little machine. I look forward to cutting/moving the remaining 1200 yards or so. Best of luck with the JD (phantom) 110. See you in about 4 weeks or so and hopefully you will have the 110 in hand, Rat...

P.S. Did I tell you the Harley power rake works really super nice with HST? Its incredible. Your going to really like it on the 110. I truely cannot say enough about how well it works with HST, absolutley incredible.

Rat,
Yep,was kinda waitin' fer this, but if you read my post again you will find that I said looks, the emphasis being put on looks,I know you are really just insanely jealous that I will (someday) have the sleekest, most tehnologically advanced compact tlb on the market, with plenty of visibility fore and aft of the unit........then again maybe you are just bustin' my stones cause you have a machine and I unfortunately do not /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. Ahhh nuttin' like a little good clean fun between tractor owners (well at least one owner and one wanter),when I do finally get it you hear all about it,good and bad,as far as putting it through its paces,I'm not sure if you'e up on your geography but here in new england the ground isn't composed of fluffy soil and sand,so don't worry this thing is gonna be worked, and if anybody will have any problems it'll be me /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Tags is not the only one without his tractor. Right now they all look good to me, even my broken down International. I need to buy a new riding mower. Can anybody guess what color it won't be?

Re: What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Hey whoa, Tags got his Phantom 110. Congratulations Tags, guess since you can actually touch it, feel it, even make out with it its no longer a Phantom. By the way, I was at my local dealer yesterday. He sells Kubota and JD. Guess what he had sitting right next to a brand new L48, 2 JD 110's. Thats saying a lot too because he's not a real big JD fan and does not stock any JD utility tractors. He only orders them for customers that really want them. That must mean he really likes the JD 110. After seeing it next too the L 48, I have a new name for the Phantom, "Lil Sis", as it looks a bit smaller and cute'r then the L48, it could be the L 48's adopted little sister. I did crawl around it. very nice tractor, it does have smaller hydraulics then the L 48, you know, hydraulic cylinders, but that was just the obvious stuff and of course, am drawing no conclusion about it other then it was obvious. As I sat on it, I realized it is a bit more cramped, but once on it, it would be just fine. The front bucket view is what I was curious about, its about the same as the L 48. I think its a great little machine. You are right, underneath is a plethora of hydraulic lines, you better put body armour on it or you may end up rebuilding the whole hydraulic system. You had asked about the L48 blowing hot engine air at the operator, no, not any air is blown at the operator, the whole system is sealed form that. That (JD 110) would be good in summer and welcome in winter for you New England types. Anyway Mr Tags, have a blast, let me know how it operates, you will love the HST for both the loader and the Harley. Looks like a great Lil Sis for the Arnold Schwartznegger L 48. Rat...

Re: What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Rat,
Where I rent space there is a contractor that has an L48,it happened to be at the yard yesterday but on a trailer,I parked the 110 next to it just to look at the 2 side by side,I think the 110 is definitely a bit more compact than the 48,the 110 is a bit narrower, which was also a factor in buying it,they have the same size tires all around, the hoe on the 48 is bigger, but not by much and the loader buckets looked to be about the same size.Someday when his machine is off the trailer and mine is there I want to run the two of em' side by side and really check out the differences.I would definetly have to agree with you about the hydro drive,I never had one before but the little I have used it so far I love it ,its fast and being able to quickly adjust your speed according to conditions is fantastic,I was planning to use my harley rake this weekend but it has rained out the past 3 days,I can't wait to try it out, also I believe the heat I was feeling from the machine was coming from the hydraulics under it,not the motor,I was just wondering if you could feel that also on yours, as far as the L48 being Arnold,I guess that would make the 110 Spiderman....quick and nimble /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Yep, thats about right Spiderman. You know the hydrostatic probably does generate a lot of heat for the hydraulic oil, but then, both tractors come with a big beefy cooler. When it was about 98 degs. here one day I was pulling loads in the bucket up about a 20 degree grade in medium gear and the engine temp remained at about the center and never budged. I have not been able to get it up to that point again although I havent had a warm day like that when I was hauling loads up the hill. The loader buckets do appear the same size, thats great because heaped they carry about 22 - 23 cu. ft. with the toothbar on I estimate. If I had one wish on my L48 it would be that I could mow in high gear on the slopes I have. Going up my 20 deg. terrain is the only problem. I do a lot of mowing and need to use high simply because I rarely run at PTO RPM for mowing and at about 1800 RPM, high is geared to tall. I noticed that the 110 has a little lower high then the L 48, let me know how it does going up hill in high. All in all, the specs are close enough on these tractors that they really don't matter that much so a direct comparison is easy. My loader valve issue is not only resolved, I'm bending the teeth on my toothbar with bucket curl. It'll actually lift the whole rear end off the ground and thats with a 1200lb box and filled tires. Best of use with your new Spiderman, man,. looks very nice. Rat...

Re: What? Tags doesn\'t have his Phantom 110 YET!!!

Rat,
One nice thing on the 110 is it has a hydraulic temp gauge, which to me is invaluable on a machine that runs completely on hydraulics.I do some field mowing w/ a 5' brush hog so next time I put it on I'll aim at some hills.I also just ordered a toothbar mostly to increase bucket capacity, but also for general digging and grading,I've never had one beforebut am looking forward to gettin' it,how do you like yours ,and would you say it's a good investment? Also, what are your tires filled with?I ask because I am looking to fill my tires but the manual says that w/the hoe on ballast isn't required and adding it will put stress on the axels and driveline, but I'm going to use it alot without the hoe and for sure the [censored] end will be too light, even w/my harley rake on,I talked to a company that fills em' w/water and anti-freeze but it would weigh about 550lbs per tire,I asked if they could fill em' half way (about 250lbs per tire) but they said that may cause "surging" while driving the machine,if you have any thoughts on this I'd appreciate your input, happy hauling!
