What size trailer??

Hi all, just wondering what size trailer (like length, single/dual axel, brakes), and what options are important to haul a Kioti DK40 with a Ford 150 (5.4 engine)? This would be bumper pull.

Also, about what would you expect to pay for one in decent condition?

Step one is to know the weight of not only the tractor but loader, all add ons (filled tires), and implements. Once you have the total add trailer weight and you will know whether you need a trailer with 7000 lb or 10,000 lb capacity. My 18' trailer weighs 1900 lbs with ramps. As to length I would go for a 20' trailer if you plan to have a bush hog and loader on the tractor when you tow.

Yes, sorry, the tractor has a FEL and the tires are filled. I don't plan on hauling an implement with the tractor.

if no loader, then a minimum of 16' tandem axle 'car hauler' style trailer.. I like wood decks.. and be sure to get e-brakes on both axles.

if you haul alot of implements with it.. get an 18 or 20' even.. with or without dovetail.

for sure NO smaller than 16' and tandem. those are usually 1700-2000# trailers.. etc

I pull a New Holland 3930 w/loaded tires and FEL plus implement of the day, usually a box blade on a 20 ft double 7000# axles with a Toyota Tundra 5.7. No problems at all, just make sure your trailer tires are rated for your load.

I agree 100%. Make sure to drop the coin on electric brakes. You can pull a lot more than you can stop without the additional braking!

My tractor has a FEL and a box blade on the back. I haul it on a 16 foot car hauler trailer with dual axles and electric brakes. My trail is made by MacLander and has pull out ramps. My tractor is a full size farm tractor and it fits just fine. The box blade hangs over a little bit but so what? I dont haul too far though because my tractor weighs 7000 lbs and is way too heavy for my trailer but it still does the job. Trailer and tractor combined put the total weight at around 9200 lbs. I pull with a Ford Superduty V-10.

What year is the F-150?

With that tractor, loader, loaded tires plus the weight of the trailer, you will be over 7,000 lbs total. I've towed with a few F-150's up to 2005 model year and anything over 6,000 lbs is a struggle with that weak 5.4l engine. I'm sure it can be done but make sure you have the right gearing, trans cooler, oil cooler, brake setup, etc...

As for the trailer, I would say you want at least an 18ft 10k trailer.
