M7040 here....plumbing in a diverter valve for running a grapple.

The grapple came with 1/4" JFles, the OD on that hose is 9/16.

I bought a generic 3/8" hose from rural king, the OD on that hose is 3/4.

The Kubota hoses, with 1/2" connectors, on the loader have an OD of 5/8.

Are the Kubota's 5/16 hoses?

From visiting internet web sites on hydraulic supplies....doesn't appear there are 5/16 hoses.

SO....what the heck size hose is it?

I am curious as to how much that generic 3/8" hose from Rural King cost you and does it even have the ends that you need on it? Not sure what the hose that you bought is rated for, but R17 3/8" is only 5/8" OD and R16 is 11/16" OD. So the hose that you bought is probably rated at a much higher PSI rating than you need. R17 (3000PSI) is all that you need. ;)

Brain I bought some generic items just to try and figure out things....remember I'm a novice on hydraulics. I probably will be taking these few items back. One point I don't understand is Kubota used 1/2" fitting...but I'm guessing 3/8" hoses, but not sure....why 1/2" on a 3/8" hose? My research shows these fittings and hoses are all over the board in variations. A real mix of jic/npt connections in various sizes...and 1/2" quick connects.

The RK 3/8 hose says 4000psi and I think it was $9...made in china. And right it terminates in a 3/8" npt thread.
The JFlex 1/4" hose that came with the grapple, I had to repair the end on it (shipper dropped the grapple when transfer to my pickup), and that hose is rated for 5800psi. It has 3/8npt on one end and 1/2"npt on the other for the QC. SO...you saying the OD size has to do with the rating of the hose? The Kubota hoses don't have a mark on them anywhere, and their diameter falls smack dab between the others. What size do you think it is?

Confusing...it is for me. When I had the hose repaired the local hose guy, said I would run into as much cost piecing it together as it would for them to custom build the hose....just like you said. I've decide to build a mount and put the valve directly over the top of where the QC are for the loader. Then plumb in the the tractor side of before the QC to the diverter. The connection I'm tieing into is jic 1/2"...so I'm going to need short hoses from that to the diverter which also appear to be jic with an o ring type port. Need right angle connections at the diverter. Once I fab up the mount, and put the diverter in the right spot, I'll measure and let you price me some hoses...most likely will do the same with this local guy.

The hoses that I deal with have a larger OD as the pressure rating goes up. Sort of looks like the grapple hose is the same way. 1/4" hose that is 9/16"OD with a 5800PSI rating. That's a pretty big OD for a 1/4"hose.

I believe that the hoses for the loader are 3/8" no real reason to have anything any bigger. All of the diverter ports are #8 ORB.

Instead of building a mount, why not just mount the valve on the loader tower between the tower and the hood? That way it stays with the loader, easy to plumb and is protected from most everything. Drill and tap, or just drill and bolt the valve to the tower, clean and easy.

I am mounting on the tower...but very low....using the same bolts that hold the loader QC. Don't have to drill any holes in the tractor at all, and fabing a mount isn't an issue. Also it kepts the hose really short. On the hose to the loader, I'm going to cable tie to a support I'm bolting on to the loader arm in existing holes that have nuts welded in place. That way I can cut the cable ties and flop the hoses to the back for a 3rd valve there if I need it.
