Kubota L45
Hi all. I'm in the market for a Befco grader/scraper for my L45. Im trying to figure out if I should go with the 72" or 84". Recommendations please? Thank you.

I have a NH TC45D and pull a 72" land pride land plane and I can drag it down depending on which road I am using it on. If I drop it into low it always picks up the slack though but then I cant keep up speed. What is the shape of the road you plan on working on?

Im not exactly sure what you mean by "shape" of the road. It has very high crown with lots of potholes. Its strait for the most part with a grade in some parts of maybe 8%. The length is aprox. 500ft long. I wanted to know if land planes need to extent WIDER than the width of the tractor tires. Thank you.

I do not think it needs to extend past the tire footprint. Where I have a smooth gravel road I could go with a 84" but when I am working my road with lots of ruts an extra foot would cause it to ride over some of the problems and not fill them in. IE thwe 2 sides of the grader hold it up over the ruts. If you have a nice base the larger would be nice but 72" should cover the width of your tires shouldn't it. I am guessing your bucket is 6'.

Maybe I am not explaining myself well. I think 72" should cover your tire spread. Either size should work fine for you from the sound of it. Potholes are not like the ruts I sometimes have problems with. If your road is over 12 ft wide I would get the larger one. If not, you would have to make 2 passes anyway so no real advantage to 84". I think your tractor will pull either fine. If your gravel gets deep the larger could bog it down a little more and force you to drop to lower range. I think my results look a little better when I can keep up speed but it is not awful if I need to slow down.

I pull a woods 84 box blade just fine with my L45 not sure about a scraper. I noticed when the edge of the road has washed away some, the 84 is good to fill this back in by extending past the tire width. I already had the 84 or I would have probably bought a 72 Box Blade. My rd is around 1,000 feet. Hope this helps.

I just put many hours on a Befco 72" behind my L48. That size will do for you with power to spare. The road I did was very bad, big rocks, little gravel, big holes and sow washouts. It took many oases but this 1600' road can now handle a 20mph truck vs 5mph before:). Lost 4 of the ripper teeth:(.
Will caution you that the pins that hold the ripper teeth in may work free, many times mine did. I bought safety type to keep them in. In the few spots that there was good gravel, it did a great job!

You will want it to extend past the tires. Depending on how wide your road is you may not need the 7' landplane.

While you can get by with the 84" unit, I think that you would be better off with the 72" unit and actually be capable of working the implement vs the implement working the tractor.

Just :2cents: from a guy that has a 5 foot & 7 foot industrial grade units that maintains a little over 2 miles of roads. ;)
