Kubota/ B7500/with 2000 lb winch
Now that I know more about my FEL I can get to which mower to buy. My wife asked about buying a new lawn mower next spring and I told her I have a new tractor. Can my B7500 mow as good as a riding lawn mower?, if so what should I get a RFM,or a MMM? I know the MMM is alot more expensive. What brand should I get? I don't want to spend a fortune. I heard that woods is good but they are expensive. Give me a list of brands to choose from.
I know alot of you talk about mowing with theirs so with that I don't think I need a lawn mower. I think my tractor will last alot longer than a lawn mower.
My yard usually takes about 4hrs to mow with a riding mower and a good tank plus of gas. It's mostly flat with the basic trees, swing set, outbuildings, and other odd and ends. Thanks for your help.............. Donny from Georgia /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Donny,
If you don't have TOO many obstacles a RFM does a great job. A MMM will do better around some things but not low hanging trees, RFM is better there.
I have a "private label" Caroni and love it. The Sitrex is good, as is all of the Italian mowers.
4hours with a rider wil be down to 2 or less with the Kubota.

I like a MMM better...but when I had a RFM last year it worked pretty good. Just that my needs are better served by the MMM.

If you get a RFM, be sure to get one as wide as your tractor will handle. That way you can cut close to things like a fence or pond edge more easily.

My rear wheels on my B2910 are about 54 inches wide. My 60" RFM did not stick out much at all. Had I been smarter and bought a 72" RFM I probably would not have traded my RFM in on a MMM [with bx2200 attached... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif]

The MMM is more expensive but will make your job a lot easier if you got things to get around. If your lot is wide open the RFM will actually do a better job of mowing and is less expensive. The only draw back on a RFM is getting around trees and things. As your turn around the trees the RFM will actually move away from the trees. The RFM is a bunch easier to put on and take off over most MMM.

The RFM is harder on the neck on us older guys /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

i think u will find that any mower on a b7500 or any other cut will not do all your mowing. beleive that around the house , garage it will be too big and and u will still need a smaller lawnmower. also with a lawnmower when the ground is a little soggy u will still be able to mow, where as a tractor will leave marks and some ruts. but for areas that u can mow with the tractor i like my rfm.

You never hear of the "Kubota" brand. Are they just plain expensive or not heard of? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I even asked the dealer that I bought mine from and he said they don't have anything.
I have had my tractor for about a month now and I have nothing to put behind it yet. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Donny,
I have similar stuff to mow around as you and the RFM does great it is sure tons easier to remove, and comes in very handy cutting under low lying branches, price is also a big plus. I would recommend a rear discharge they work very well if you don't let the grass get too long.

We can't even agree here on side vs. rear discharge, so expect a lot of opinions.

I had a MMM and now have 2 RFM's (a Caroni and a LandPride). Both are good. The LP is heavier and seems better built, but the Caroni has taken a lot of abuse and is still on the job. I like RFM's better because of some of the qualities already covered. Mine have all been side discharge, which comes in handy for leaf blowing. By the way, it may be goofy on my part, but when shopping for for of the RFM's I eliminated one brand from the running because the discharge was to the left. I am so "trained" to mow counterclockwise I didn't think I'd like doing everything backwards.

I mulched around all the trees/buildings/etc so there is no trimming except for the creek banks. One neighbor I mow for has no mulch around things, so it requires a quick walkabout with the string trimmer. When you get accustomed to the RFM, you can pass within inches of obstacles without looking back..........................chim

Don,

I have a Kubota RC6024B 60" mmm under my B7500 and it does a great job on my 5 acre yard, even up around the house. The mid-mount is more manuaverable, but the RFM can be backed up under the edge of things like pine trees and is much easier to get on and off than the mmm. The mid mount can be pinned in the up position to make use of the 3 point but if you need more ground clearance it has to be removed. I have a feeling that you would probably be happy with either one, it just depends on your personal use. Yes there is a kubota version of each model available through your dealer. The 60" inch mmm is pricy at around $2,300!! But it is well built (in Gainsville, GA.).

I use a TC-30 with a 72" KK rfm for the vast majority of the 7 plus acres we finish mow and it does a nice job with the open areas, but I put my son on a cub cadet 1925, 46" lawn tractor for the front yard and one pass around all the trees deck, shed, gazeebo, bird feeders etc... Making all those tight turn around landscaping with those loaded R4's with any speed does rips the only really nice lawn I have( in front) . Then we both break out the weedwackers to finish in just about 3 hours. Remember this if you build or add it you have to cut around it for a lifetime
