Kubota L3130
I have a 2004 Kubota Grand L 3130 with the 723 FEL and the BH90 Backhoe. It has just over 400 hrs on it and also comes with a 6ft boxblade and a 8ft rake.

I currently have a landscape business and I am moving into doing more hardscaping (patios/retaining walls) and i am finding that I need a machine that can pick up between 2600lbs and 3700lbs pallets of blocks and pavers. I have thought about keeping the machine but in order to move up to a bigger machine I need free up some of my payments.

It is tough because the tractor can both dig and move material and a skid-steer doesn't dig so well. I would like to move up to a skid-steer and a mini-excavator but the $$$$$$ are stopping me for now. I have to pick a used skid-steer and just rent the mini for now.

I want to try to sell it outright and if anyone knows the best way to advertise (ebay.com, Tractorhouse.com, local papers, other internet sites, ??????). I looked at ebay but there seems to be too many obvious scams there to even help with finding a price that the machine is worth. I am not looking the get the most out of the machine, just a fair market value that allows me to sell the machine in a resonable amount of time.

I thank you for you help and information in advance.

Walter,
Ebay is without a doubt the MOST popular by/sell place to look or list anything… It has lots of scams because there are lots of people looking all the time, and the scammers know that a sucker will always bite on a ‘too good to be true deal’.
This forum has a classified section, but I must admit I don’t often think about it. Only if someone directs their thread toward it…
Your local news paper may be a good place, BUT you didn’t indicate where you are on the planet… Where are you located???
If you do list on ebay, do all your bidders a favor and state very clearly that “You do NOT make second chance offers” also do not give an email or phone number in your description for people to contact you… There is a contact the seller there that goes through ebay to insure that a bidder is actually contacting the person listing the auction, not someone that has ‘borrowed’ an identity...
good luck and post back with your location OR fill out your bio… KennyV

I would guess value at somewhere around 80% of the original price. Call a dealer and ask them to estimate a trade value - then add a bit for private sale. Either that or call around to dealers and try to find something that is used and similar to yours - see what they want and knock off a bit.

I don't know how things are now, but last year Kubota had extremely attractive financing which beat down the used market quite a bit, since the payments on a new machine were reduced by the financing deals. For example, a local dealer was asking 16.9k for a new-looking L3130 w/ 723 FEL @ 100 hours (I think that's ~80% of new), which seemed pretty cheap to me.

I am located in the Northeast of Pa., just about 30 min northeast of Scranton if anyone knows where that is. Within a 3 hrs drive I can be in Philadelphia, New York City, Hartford, CT. I think it is a good location and there should be lots of people between here and there.

I don't always trust dealers because it seems that they can't tell the truth. When they are selling you something it is the best and when it comes to trading something in it is never good enough. I had a realtor like that once, told me how much the house was worth when I was the buyer and when it came time that I had to sell he came back and it sounded like he said the exact opposite?????

I am just looking for a fair price and I may try ebay just to get all of the people to look at it. It does seem that people can tell the difference between a authentic auction and the scams.

Another question that I have is, when is the best time to sell. I am at the end of my work year and I would like to sell it but I would also like to have it for the winter to push snow around. It does a great job! Would it be best to wait until spring or doesn't it matter as the time of year.

Just this past year I purchased a larger truck( 01 Sterling Acterra 33,000 GVW) and I had a 4' custom tool box installed behind the cab and then I got a Switch-N-Go system from buck's fabricating, Bucks Fabricating - Roll-Off Containers & Switch-N-Go and it is really a nice setup. At the time I wanted to move up to the larger equipment(mini and skid) but I realized that I should get a real truck that can haul any equipment that I might need including the rental stuff. I can haul just over 8 tons and I can also drop the bodies to the ground and lift them back onto the truck as long as the whole body is less than 15,000 lbs. It is a tought decision because I want all three but I figured it would do me no good to get equipment that I couldn't move to the jobs. I had a Ford F-350 and the towing capacity and the load capacity was a joke. I was able to get a very nice truck that is built solid and for the kind of work that I do for just about the same price as a larger ford f-550 that wouldn't have as much payload as I have now. That is enough about me, just a little info so you can see where I am going. Thanks for the help.

Walter,
Sterling is a VERY nice truck…
There are likely more buyers in the spring for utility tractors but there are also lots of new dealer promotions in the spring… So if you don’t get what you need for it this fall, sounds like you may have an over winter use for it… the time and hours should not have any change to it’s value. Good luck sounds like you are on a good track… KennyV.
