Checked my mower gearbox(Ford/NH 915B 6' rotary); had not really messed with it since I got it used with the tractor a couple years ago. "Oil" was up to the inspection plug.
Today I was mowing, and getting ready to take the tractor to my parents acreage to mow. Checking/topping off fluids, I saw the mower gearbox appears to have grease instead of oil in it. And plenty of metal sparkle. Was able to suction it out, flush with diesel.
But I do not have a manual... No idea if this thing is supposed to have grease, or gear oil in it?
The rotary mower on my old Kubota used gear oil(Kubota 48" rotary).
What should I use!
