Come on folks somebody's gotta have an idea???

Let me try again.

I have been having a great time brush hogging with this cutter, no complaints. It came setup with the tail about 1 1/2" higher than the rear and that works great in the brush.

For the time being I am going to cut the lawn with it. It cut fine but I need to get the angles right so that the front of the deck doen't gauge the lawn. I have raised the tailwheel to drop the rear of the deck alittle and it helped slightly. I did it some more but didn't try it yet. Should I change something else? Mybe remove the center link for the lawn so it "floats" a little?

What cutter? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe you can fill in your profile.....? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, if you are talking about a bushhog, they will do a passable job "finish mowing" on flat surfaces, but if you are talking sudden curves, it will gouge with the front corners as you have learned. A true finish mower has a wheel in each corner and some have an anti-scalp roller on the nose. If you could rig some swivel guage wheels on the front corners, you might be able to fool it into thinking it is a finish mower.

Just an idea....

I would adjust the rear wheel.. to the height you want the grass cut.. and raise the front high enough so it doesn't hit/scalp the ground.. the level would then be set/guided w/ the rear.. the top link would be extended out more then usual.. to keep the rear down and to have more height on the front.

At work well till friday on lay off day I do all the bushhogging. Its at a wood waste landfill dad and i ran for Belmont homes. We like to mow around the pond and have every thing yard like. The epa loves it. The tail wheel kept locking up on the hog and cut a few nice furrows in our new grass. I removed it and added a 5 dollar caster wheel on easch side of the tail and it does great. Im wanting to add some to the front to. On flat ground dad does finish mow with his Agri 5 mower just keep it sharp. On the hog at work i made the swivel wheels removable for heavy hogging.
