I have a Braden AMS6 winch which requires 3000 inch-lbs input torque, and operating input of 400 rpm. I can use this on two different tractors, and for calculation purposes we'll use 2000 psi system pressure, and 4.5 gallons flow. If I use the fomulas on the Braden website, given flow and rpm I need a 2.3 cu in motor. Given required input torque and system pressure, I need a 13.5 cu inch motor. How do I sort out these variables to determine what i need for a motor ?

You can not do it with what you have stated. With a 16.5 GPM flow, and a 9.5 cu in motor, at 2000 psi, the hyd motor will turn 401 rpm, and develop about 3025 in lbs of torque.

2.6 cu in motor, and 2000 psi = 828 in lbs of torque.

4.5 GPM, and 2.6 cu in hyd motor =400 rpm

4.5 GPM, and 13.5 cu in hyd motor = 77 rpm

23 GPM and 13.5 cu in hyd motor =400 rpm

13.5 cu in, and 2000 psi produces about 4299 in lbs of torque.

If you vary the cu in, and the pressure, you will come out with different size motors. The GPM determines the rpm.

How many GPM and what pressure do you have available?
