I need to equip one of these machines for snow blowing. I have two steep driveways and 6 parking spots on the main road. At 5600' elevation on the West slope Sierra Nevada overnight snow accumulations can be massive Feet not inches!) Anyway, It takes me pretty much all day to clear with my Honda tracked blower.
I own a Kubota bx 23s and I just bought an RTV 1100c. The snow blower for the rtv looks very expensive (like 5 grand) A pto blower looks to be as cheap as 1500.

Obviously the rtv will be more comfortable, so i guess the question is, which tool is better for traction on steep inclines?

A front mount for the tractor is not on your radar? Blowing snow backwards is less than fun.

It largly depends on money matters and we can't answer that for you. One guys standards are thought of crazy by another.

How do the two machines compare weight wise? Assuming a similar weight, and both could be chained it may be a toss up.
I have always wanted an enclosed RTV, but settled on a cab tractor.

Does the RTV have enough flow to run a blower? For deep snow as you describe?

I’m thinking the RTV isn’t exactly designed for heavy duty snow blowing. Will it do it? Sure....for a while. On the other hand the Bota was made for such tasks. Rear blower is cheapest while the front blower is probably closer in cost to the RTV blower. If it was me I’d be putting something on the tractor.

After snowblowing this year with a front mount blower on my 1620, I can't imagine running a rear blower for an hour plus at a time. The price savings of a rear mount isn't worth the years of twisted driving position IMO.

Blowers take HP and at 5600', either one will be working hard.

Of the two, I would choose the BX tractor for the job. Chains, ability to add weights, and maneuverability would be better.

I looked at the rtv on Kubota web site I was pretty impressed. It has some sort of front PTO and its a pretty big blower. Maybe you can get a demo and see if it works well? Also how maneuverable is it compared to the tractor?

A customer took the gearbox out of their front Kubota blower on an Lgrand series. It isn't all that old and they are not too impressed. Not a cheap repair.
