anyone know what the weight of the 1525 FEL is? i'm trying to figure out if my trailer will handle my potential 1540 tractor + FEL weight. right now i have load range "C" tires 1825# x 2 tires = 3650#. the trailer i had made is rated at 5000#, but the manufacturer placed the wrong tires on the trailer.

I don't know the weight of the FEL per spec. The 1540 I know comes in at almost 3000 lbs and I think M/F may list that w/o tires and fluids. If FEL weighs anywhere near 750 lbs you'll be right at your limit.

If you don't have weight on the tractor, it and the loader will weigh about 4300-4500. Does your trailer have one axle or two? If it is one axle, like it sounds there is no way that you can use a one-axle trailer. I may be reading it wrong. If it is rated at 5000, that is the trailer and the load. You would be overloaded,

I don't think there's any way a 5000lb trailer is enough for a 1533 or 40. I was looking at 7k trailers for my 1531 which is smaller and lighter than the 1533, and 7k was going to barely be enough. I ended up finding a used 10k equipment trailer that I feel much better with.

i spoke with the trailer builder and he said they put the wrong tires on and he would exhange the tires with "D" rated ones (2540# each x 2 = 5080#) :) the trailer's axle is a 5300# rating and the trailer is rated @ 5000#. he also said when the trailer is loaded, the tongue weight negates the empty weight of the trailer, therefore, i could actually place 5,000# on the trailer. he assured me the trailer would handle the tractor's weight of 3,900# ( according to my tractor dealer). he also said they build the trailers with a 20% safety factor.

Others will jump in here, but I've never heard anything about the "tounge weight negating the trailer weight". I've also never seen or heard of someone hauling a tractor of this size on a single axle trailer. I think you're going to have a lot of trouble getting the load balanced with one 1 axle to pivot around, and it will bounce on the hitch a lot. Also, what kind of ramps or gate does this have? If it's just a landscape gate, I think it's going to fold up when you drive the tractor over it. While this trailer may hold up to hauling this, I think you're really pushing it.

I think he will see his problems start as soon as he loads the tractor on the trailer... I am 100% sure the weight of that setup will put the back end of any 3/4 or smaller truck to the ground very well.

Just something to think about... I have a 6000# trailer here, hooked it up to the truck, loaded the tractor with FEL on, took a few steps back and looked at the set up... The tractor has "never" been on that trailer again.

Steve,
Sorry if my post sounded like was directed toward you. I was referring to evisr8 post.
Now I have done it. I deleted my post. I've never done that before.

Evisr8,
There is no way that you can ever get the tongue weight right with that much weight on a one axle trailer. If you have a top-heavy load (like a tractor) on a one axle trailer and you blow a tire, you will more than likely roll it and destroy your tractor. You will endanger yourself and others as well as you tractor.

Just in case it is misunderstood from my post above... My trailer is duel axle and I will NEVER move my tractor with it.

I used to haul Dad's Kubota L2900 w/o a FEL on a 16' tandem axle 5000 lb trailer. Sometimes with a disk, sometimes with a bushhog. I wouldn't put my 1533 on it with or w/o the FEL by itself and try to haul it. HP and chassis size isn't that much bigger but w/loaded R4s and MFWD axle added, it's just too much for the trailer.
