What is the difference in the 5085M JD and the 5085E JD?
A couple thousand dollars. :D

Same engine.
E has a 12 speed transmission, M has a 16 speed.
The M is a little heavier tractor. From what I understand, it's the frame.
The M has a bit more lift capacity and increased hydraulic flow.

Here's a link to the TractorData pages for each:
5M
5E

I'm assuming that you've been to the Deere website already?

The differance I heard was think of it as the E series as a Homeowner version and the M as a professional version. The M is built heavier and to run long hours. Where as the the the E is basically used for doing small chores and such light plowing and such. Like others said the M is about 10-15K more depending on options.

Both machines are more then capable of very day hard work. They have same engine, think of it as buying a car with all the basic features and then getting one fully loaded. The m has a little over 2 gm more hydraulic output. Also has more lift capacity for
3 point. Loaders are identical. The M weights about 1000lbs more. I have a 14 85e and pull a mx 10, 14' off set disk and 84 tiller. For me I couldn't see spending another 10 grand for the extras.

I'm curious as to what type soil, what brand offset and do you pull that 14' plow with wheels raised with a 85 engine HP tractor? Where I live a 14' offset with wheels raised will load a 120-130 hp tractor.

Your info lists a JD5425, is it not up to the job?

It's a JD 210 disk. I was worried about it pulling it also. So far I haven't had a problem. Soil is loam with little rock. It has 23" wheels, I haven't had it in anything wet and heavy. The tractor has loaded tires and loader. Haven't had to use MFWD yet. Haven't had to put the tires down either, only had it to the axles a couple times, you definitely know when it does. This is a pipeline that is pretty hard pan. Still doing a decent job for being so hard. After going over twice it was digging good.
