I have an opportunity to purchase a tractor that has been stored in my garage for a couple of months. It's a Kubota 4x4 L35 with TL720 FEL and BT900 Backhoe. I do not know what he wants for it yet but I've been considering a tractor to mow some horse pasture (10 acres) and do some land clearing and cleaning up. The back hoe is nice to have but it has never been off the tractor and i will need to use the PTO mostly for brush hogging. Does the backhoe come off easily? I don't know how old this tractor is and i think the hour meter is not working (it says 500 hrs.) This more tractor than i ever imagined i would own but i don't know if i can afford it. I'm in the process of trying to find out what the specs are on it and what a fair price would be. Any help or info would be greatly appreicated.

My neighbor has an L35. It is the precursor to todays L39. It's a nice machine and can do much work. My neighbor says it takes about an hour to take off the hoe. Not an easy chore, but not to bad either. I'd love to have a backhoe again. I haven't had one for several years now and the list off things I could do with it keeps growing. It won't be that often, but when you do use it, you'll really appreciate having it. You will probably have it off the machine most of the time.

You might want to check on Carver's website found on this site for pricing. I have seen them sold their quite often.

The L35 was intended as a compact commercial-quality tractor-loader-backhoe for landscapers, building contractors etc. and is very rugged. It has Glide-Shift transmission (not hydrostatic). Many L35's were also sold to rental companies. They stand up very well, have lots of design margin and in general are small and compact - but strong and heavy. Maybe more than most homeowner/landowners usually need, but as somebody once said - there's no such thing as too much tractor. The value varies depending on condition and actual hours on it. The range seems to be from approx. $10,000 for a 10-year old machine with 3000 hard hours - up to $30k for a cream puff. You might check out Trader Online Type in Kubota under maker and keyword L35. Quite a range available right now.

An Hour?!?! It takes me all of about 5 minutes to take off the backhoe. Its very easy.

Market value for L35's that where privatly owned should be around $20k... ones from Rental or construction applications will be somewhat less.

Hey, I'm just quoting my neighbor who has one. He just bought an L48 as well. He is planning on just leaving the hoe off the L35 so he doesn't have to take it on and off when needing the 3 point hitch. It's going to be his bush hogging and box blading machine.

I have the L 48, and it takes about 5-6 minutes tops, to unload hoe. Ten to remount., Quick connect hoe buckets, 30 seconds off, 50 seconds to remount
