What is a Rotary Cultivator?

my stepdad is giving me a rotary cultivator but i dont know what it does or what i can do with it?

A rototiller. It cultivates the ground, usually a garden.

It might be what is also called a rotary hoe, which looks like a big garden weasel.

well it was about 4 or 5 foot long and had what looked like spikes underneath it. this thing is an older one from the 60's or 70's. i know what a tiller looks like and it doesnt look like this thing.

This may be Lely Roterra. My Dad had one for the farm. It has vertical spikes that are driven by a PTO so that the soil is mixed. You can see a photo of one on Ebay.
