I need to add material to my gravel road.

I am planning to add as much as 50 tons of recycled concrete.
(2 large dump trucks, tail gated)

I can get said material within 20 miles from my house for $9/ton, but they do not deliver.

So I will start calling local hauling companies, but I have NO IDEA what is a reasonable rate.

Like i said, it is approx 20 miles between the material and my house. call it 40 per rd trip, 2 rd trips for a large box dump truck. 80 miles (less actually) and about 2 hours of driving, and maybe 1/2 hour of tailgating.

What is a reasonable rate?

Thanks in advance,
David

Around here (central IL) $60 to $75 per hour for a tandem that hauls 14ton.

The only meaningful answers will come from someone equipped and able to do the job. But for what it is worth, a ten wheeler or tri-axle dump will fetch $80-100 per hour "here".
You need to stretch out your time estimate, IMHO.

$75 per hour here for a quad that will haul 24.5 tons. That was 18 months ago.

Find a semi dump and get 70 tons(2 loads) from my experience it is only a few dollars more and you always need gravel. They are $90/hr here

Can he tailgate it??? It will take me all winter to spread 70 tons of material with my little 6' bucket!

Then I will also need 6 weekends of raking with my little 4' yorkie rake and mower:laughing: to smooth out my sloppy fel work!

I would like some extra left over so i can fill or do a couple spots for parking etc.

The recycled conrete can come with rebar poking out and other types of tire killing surprises in it. It is worth the extra $ to get stone in my opinion. I used recyled concrete once and won't do it again.

When I added the turnaround to my drive, spreading the 58 tons of crushed stone only took one afternoon. The two lead loads were dropped in the morning and the everything was put away before supper.

A rear blade for your tractor will save you all that raking you are worried about.

WHOA!!!!

I was told it was pulverized! Like really small and packs down hard (better for my Harley's)

This really changes things! I need to baktrack...

I would like a rear blade and a box blade, and an 8" York Rake, and a Post hole auger, and...

I hope Santa leaves them ALL in my stocking :D

The big boys can tailgate like nobodies business if there are no overhanging branches and ground is relatively level. Look into road millings or fine slag too.

On small projects, the rates for dump truck and tractors have remained reasonably stable: But 5 axle 50t GVW (30t loads) dumptrucks, on large projects, run for 70 euro per hour. That is with our fuel prices that are double that of American prices...

Just call around, somebody who isnt that busy these days, is eagerly awaiting your call. Tell them you want it within now and 3 weeks, so they can do it as a return freight: That will save you half the miles ;)
My uncle drives the lowbed to deliver mobile homes off factory: His boss allows him to take return freights, if it pays for the fuel. Boss doesnt pay fuel cost for driving home empty, my uncle earns some extra cash by taking transports for others, if its on the route.
