A little leveling project on one of our small hay meadows. This tractor was the last big project Dad and I had before he passed away in January of this year. We bought this at Brinkley's Auction in Idabel, Ok. and went throught the motor. New pistons and liners, new turbo, rebuilt inj pump and injectors and a new clutch. What a sweet ride!

Hud,

Sorry to hear of the loss of your father.

Is the difference between a 4320 and a 4020: the 4320 has a factory turbo? I would love to be out plowing on a machine like yours! You are a lucky man to have a toy like that.

My father in law says when he gets stressed out the best cure is to take one of the big tractors out, put the chisel plow in the ground and pull for all it's worth. After a few hours of that he feels much better.

Yes, 4320 has a bit lower compression and a factory turbo. It's also known as a Super 4020. And it IS a great stress reliever. you can sit up there, think your own thoughts, can't hear the cell phone, and you can look behind you and tell exactly what you are getting done. The disc I am pulling was bought before I was born and I have been pulling it since I was about 11 or 12 (that's when I was tall/strong enough to reach and push the clutch on the big tractors). The 4320 is a fairly new addition. We used to have 2 5020's when we were still farming full time.

Hud,

That is one beast of a tractor!

Sounds like you'll always have good memories of your Dad associated with it.

Happy Belated Father's Day.

I put many, many hours on 4320s working for a large farmer growing up. They were used as utility tractors there as they had/have bigger equipment for tillage. A real workhorse.

One 4320 was delivered new and the farmer was not impressed with the power compared to another similar sized tractor (don't recall the brand but was not JD). Sent it back and told them to keep it if that is all it could do. It was delivered again, this time with smoke belching from it. That one had amazing power. Last I recall had over 7000 hours, never been torn down and still had far more power than traction. 'Smokey', as we called it, was the tractor of choice for the blower when filling Harvestores. Man that brings back good memories.
