Jd 2520
I just bought my first tractor. It is a jd2520 I am just curious what other people in cold climates run for fuel during the winter. Do you run a mix of diesel and kerosene, or just diesel with some sort of additive. Thanks

diesel with anti-gelling agent. the diesel you bought most likely already has some of the additives mixed in but its better to err on the safe side and add some yourself.

If you're in real cold country, you cannot beat having 1/3 to 1/2 kerosene mixed in. I don't think the additives will stop the wax dropout problem I had last winter when we had a couple nights below 10 F here in Virginia. Kerosene likely would keep it from happening.

We routinely see temps below zero and I live in snow country so I get a fair amount of seat time in the winter. I've always purchased my diesel from the local truck stop, (winter blend) and add a shot of Howe's conditioner. Knock on wood, I've never had a fuel problem. 12+ years with the Kubota L3710 and a rear mounted snow blower and 800' of driveway.

Where I get my diesel fuel, they mix it 50/50 Diesel #1 and Diesel #2. I add a shot of Howes additive. I was working in sub zero temps recently without a problem.

Most automotive fueling stations only offer mixed fuel so you are usually pretty safe, esp in colder areas. Keep in mind that most fuel treatments needs to be above 32 deg to mix properly.

I live in Ontario Canada, and I also have a new JD2520. As with all my gas/diesel powered equipment, I always add fuel conditioner to the fuel as per the directions on the container.

My dealer stocks both a winter and summer blend of Diesel Fuel Conditioner, under the JD brand, and I use whatever is appropriate for the time of year. I also have a JD X495 and before the 2520, a Yanmar YM276D (27hp Diesel), and have never had a problem.

Living in Minnesota, we routinely see below zero temperatures. To insure my 4600 runs smoothly, I run off-road Diesel and occasionally mix in either SeaFoam or JD Fuel Conditioner. You can also use #1 Diesel if you want as this will also help.

I'd also suggest that you install block and hydraulic heaters... I plug my tractor in about 20 minutes before use and it fires off nicely!

Take care!

1* Do you run a mix of diesel and kerosene, or just diesel with some sort of additive. Thanks
1*Just diesel .

We routinely see temps below zero and I live in snow country so I get a fair amount of seat time in the winter.
2*I've always purchased my diesel from the local truck stop, (winter blend) and add a shot of Howe's conditioner. Knock on wood, I've never had a fuel problem. 12+ years with the Kubota L3710 and a rear mounted snow blower and 800' of driveway.

2*That's all you need.

Where I get my diesel fuel, they mix it 50/50 Diesel #1 and Diesel #2. I add a shot of Howes additive. I was working in sub zero temps recently without a problem.
3*What is the difference between #1 and #2 diesel ?
