What Fluids for 1981 Taishan 25; and what does this lever do

Looking for info on what type of hydraulic fluid and gear oil to use. I assume there is separate hydraulic fluid and gear oil based on the fill plug on top of the gearcase. Not sure what the lever circled in blue is for. I placed an order on aliexpress for a headgasket, valve set, hydraulic seal set, turn signals, 4 ball joints for the steering linkage, and hydraulic oil strainer all for $150 shipped. May take 3 weeks to get here though.

If there are separate fill points, You are probably correct about the fluids. For the gearbox 80W90 gear oil should be fine. Probably want something yellow metal friendly as it may have bushings inside. I forget the GL service rating, might be GL5? For hydraulics AW32 should be fine.

The lever might be a 540-1000 RPM PTO speed selector(3 position) It might be a PTO engage/disengage lever(2 position) Since it is in the 3PH case, It might be some form of 3PH mechanical lock(holds 3PH at full up position) It could also be a differential lock lever(2 position, usually spring loaded to unlocked position)...

The transmission looks a lot like the one in my Jinma. The lever is exactly where the PTO engage/disengage lever is on mine, up is engaged, down is disengaged. I use 80w90 gear oil in my transmission, and it takes a lot -- 19 quarts.

I'm interested to hear how it goes with Ali Express. I take it you managed to figure out the make and model of the engine? You should also see if they have a seat...

That lever locks the lift on my taishan, good for holding heavy stuff up for long periods of time. Gear oil goes in the trans and hydraulic oil under the seat in the plug just to the right of the lift lock. Aliexpress is fantastic they made these tractors for a lot of years and parts are readily available. I would say some of the stuff is easier to get ahold of than big name brand stuff and definitly cheaper. I have the same tractor in 4wd.

After changing the gear and hydraulic oil I started it up and checked and the lever is indeed a lift lock. One thing that is still unclear is the connection at the top of the 3 point hitch where it looks like it can change the pitch of the implement. Is it just a shock absorber or does it actively change the implement angle? I moved the stick for it up and down and it did not change position.

That is the draft control. Used to keep a plow or other ground engaging implements from digging in to far. I have never used mine as I only mow or bush hog with it. Google draft control for a good explanation.
It is controlled with the second lever on your lift control.

Sorry I just saw this. Mine does not move at all when you move the lever. I do not think that is how they work. You have to have some weight on the lift like a plow. You adjust that lever when you get to a desired depth. Think of it as a sensor.
