What FEL with a 5115M?

Looking at buying a new 5115M. Salesman says the 540M loader is the way to go. The M series tractor brochure highlights the H series loaders without mention of the 540M.


For you fellows that have a 5100M or 5115M what loader do you have and what should I get?

I've learned a ton here and thank you in advance for your input.

In my absence of knowledge of the available loaders for your tractor - I would ask the salesman - - "why the 540M instead of the highlighted H series"? See what he has to say.

I've done that and he said well the 540m fits this tractor better and I think it's a better loader. He goes on to say that the H series loaders fit the 6 series better and I find this hard to believe since the H series loaders are in the M tractor brochure.

Well - - hopefully somebody with specific experience can provide information. You might want to talk to the Service Manager also. He - undoubtedly has installed enough loaders to give an informative answer. Ask very specific questions - why does he feel the loader XXX is better - what is meant by "better fit" - is one heavier duty than the other, how - does one lift higher, lift more - what type of quick connect fittings does each have - cost differences.

1) ask what is the load capacity of each loader?
2) how high does each loader go?
3) do you want loader suspension? If so does it come in either model? It is pricey but if you do a lot of travelling loader work like loading big bales out of the paddock it is worth it, hard to justify otherwise.

I've got the H310 on mine and it's been a real workhorse. I don't really know much about the M loaders, but the features shown on the Deere website are all on my H series as well. Not sure if there's any lift capacity upgrade or not. I agree about the loader suspension upgrade being useful. I debated putting it on mine due to price, but decided to go for it and I'm glad I did.

Here are some spec for each:
540M NSL: Maximum height at pivot pin 138" Rollback 44° Max at pivot pin full height 3674lb At 59" high 5115lb Breakout at pivot pin 6686lb
H310 NSL: Maximum height at pivot pin 147" Rollback 46° Max at pivot pin full height 4720lb At 59" high 5658lb breakout at pivot pin 6812lb


I am guessing the H310 sits a little higher on the tractor and is a slightly bigger loader.

Thank you to everyone for all your help. Just as I expected the specs show the H310 to be much stouter.

The brochures they have just need updating. For current production there is no H series loaders for this tractor short of existing stock on the ground. (the only current production H series is the H480 and that is for large frame row crop tractors. Unless you are wanting NSL.
