Hello friends,
I hope everyone is doing well. I am very new to this site and to land clearing/AG in general. I really appreciate your help and also your patience with my amateur questions.
My partner (female) purchased a home in the Houston, TX area with about 8 acres of land. Most of it is flat, no hills, but of courses there are lots of uneven areas.
Her family, who know a bit more about machinery then I do, are visiting for a couple of weeks, and want to help clear the land.
Currently the state of the land is:
1) Lots of mature pine trees, which will eventually be sold for timber
2) There is a lot of brush, e.g. Chinese Tallow, Yaupon Holly, and of course lots of weed/grass
3) Some of the land is uneven and or/barren because the previous owners had their horses in that section
I would like to rent some equipment to clear the brush/shrubs and cut the grass as step 1.
We were thinking of chipping the brush/wood debris (remember that the Pine trees will not be cut), which will be a LOT, instead of burning it.
So, I basically need equipment to (for use in about 8 acres)
1) Bulldoze the shrubs/brush
2) Cut the grass/weeds, which are overgrown
3) Move to debris to a central location on the property when a chipper can be run
4) Chip the debris - 12 inch chipper?
One this is done, then we will move to phase 2, which will involve grinding the stumps and also discing the ground to be able to plant grass seeds
I was hoping you could give me some advice on what equipment we need to rent, please.
