Hi, I'm thinking about selling Kioti's and what does it take to become a dealer? Is there anything that might make it not good idea to become a dealer?

Thanks, Terry.

long hours, a bunch of money, unlimited overtime, a bunch of money, willing to skip many paychecks in order to pay the hired help, a bunch of money, little or no time off, and a bunch of money.
It takes commitment. Do you know the differance between commitment and dedication? The pig that put the bacon on your breakfast table was commited, the chicken that put the eggs on your breakfast table was only dedicated...
Yep, you can be your own boss, set your own hours, and do it like you want..... Your competition will let you know if you are doing it right.
It's great to put someone on a new machine, delever it, pay it of, pay the bills and count the penneys left over. Its great to have repeat coustomers, it's even better to steal some from the competition. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.
Your chest will swell up like a balloon when everything is "rockin and rollin".....Your rear end will pucker up when disaster strikes.
The Lord has blessed me and my family, we have never missed a meal, or a payroll, payed ALL the bills on time. I pray that I can continue to scratch out a living. Most likely I will never be rich. Thats OK.
What does it take to be a dealer? A good location, a good mechanic, tools, shop, insurance, floor plans, parts, money, brains, insurance (did I mention that already?), pickups, trailers, the ability to LISTEN to the coustomer. Most of all, you have to WANT TO real bad. Think hard, then think again.
If this is for you... then welcome aboard and hold on. Kioti is "putting the hurt" on the big 3.

I run an electronic engineering and manufacturing company. Not a tractor company but most companies/businesses are fairly similar. The biggest reason any bussiness fails is under capitalization (not enough money to start). As was alredy said it takes money money and more money to run a business. The amont of money a business goess thru is amazing. Cash start to look like Monopoly money. A decent month here (and there are 8 of us) means $100,000. At that the company makes a little money.

When you make a profet it comes in dollors at a time. When you have a loss it goes out $10,000 at a time.

Then you can't treat your personal expences the way you do your business or you will end up in bankrupcy court.

I couldn't have said it better myself.......
please allow me to add a few thoughts

The ability and WILLINGNESS to jump right in there under a greasy tractor when someone gets sick/calls off etc.

Going Mechanic them yourself (save a little money)?...the willingness to jump right in there and work under a greasy tractor only taking enough time off to walk outside the shop....empty your guts and come back in and get back to work. Possibly even on a holiday?

It ain't a pretty life......you will get told snidely your tractor (regardless of brand you choose) isn't as good as/as cheap as brand XXXX. That you are a liar....regardless of your honesty and/or reputation. It truly can be a crappy way to make a buck.

BUT with all of that said,
I make alot more friends than enemies and I truly do enjoy my customers, I grieve with them and try to be as much of a friend without getting so close that it's unprofessional. Sometimes it can be rough....I've had customers as well as fellow dealers bail me out when I got in a jamb before .
But you have to be able to rely on yourself in the end because you as owner of the company are WHOLLY responsible for everything being taken care of.

And if you do good....you can sit back and Say:

I DID ALL OF THIS WHEN OTHERS SAID I COULDN'T MAKE IT HAPPEN

I love it when people who said
"Where am I going to get parts when you are out of business" come back and buy or say they wish they had bought from me.

could I also add
There is no way one person can order the tractors, put them together, fix em, sell em, delever em, advertise em, floor plan em, count the pennys in and dollars out, clean the toilet all by ones self. --- I love it.
