What do you do for a snow depth indictor?

I use the fiberglass driveway markers so I can follow my drive plowing deep snow. I have a few fiberglass electric fence posts I added to them because I had them. Today a put 3 plastic insulators on one post. One at 1' and one at 2' and one at 3'. The top of the post is 3' 7" so I can just look out of the window ans have a good idea how deep it is. What do you do? Ed

When I go out to feed the hens IF the snow is over the tops of my sneakers then it is time to blow and put on my big boots.

We have 9" or 10" now and they are calling for 14" to 20" tonight. I have a feeling that in the morning our Bo is going to look at me with one of those "You have got to be kidding" looks that he always gives me when the snow is above a certain level, if you know what I mean. I cant saw I blame him. Ed

I haven't had to put my boots on yet this year. Been plowing what little snow we had with my tennis shoes on.

For snow depth indicator, I look out at the bird feeder and estimate how much we had. Nothing official.

For ice fishing, I painted 1 inch stripes on my ice auger. I drill the hole all the way through, pull it up against the bottom of the hole, and count the rings to the surface. I wouldn't recommend this method for your driveway, though.
